    Defensive driving course

I need to do a defensive driving course to take the 6 months off my sentence restricted license period. I was just wondering who's the cheapest and best in the Auckland area, a rough idea of the cost, and how the course is run - ie. is it a couple of nights each week or something?

I did a course through Passrite, in Onehunga. It was run on a couple nights a week, starting at 6pm. It is a car course, as no course is directed at motorcycles yet, it does the job. Full license in 3 months, after getting the restricted.

There pretty much isn't. I waited for defensive driving through a motorcycle outfit, and they kept emailing me saying the course is cancellled due to lack of numbers. So I decided enough is enough and went with Passrite. Do it in the car. And you can use it to get your licence for the bike. Silly, eh?

Especially stupid considering I've already done a defensive driving course to get my bloody car full licence. So Passrite sounds like the best option? How many evenings did you have to do?

I've just sent an email to the Riderskills people. Hopefully they run a course in the next 6 months.

Defensive driving course for a car is the same as a bike so if you already have it for a car you dont need to get it again
    Thats whats up.

Yes and no ... I think one of the requirements for the defensive is that you have to sit it after you've had your bike restricted for 6 months. I did my car one a few years back now.

I did the AA one (Quay St). Pretty much a waster of time apart from the hot babe that was in the class But when we did the practical the instructor treated it like a motorbike test and pointed out the necesary things which was very helpful.

But I would rather have done the Riderskills one. Much more relevant.

I would ask at the vtnz office. If you already have a cert, then I would think it is still valid.
