    Charley Boorman new one!

    From Sydney to Tokyo by any means

    its good

    Though if you want to see my life style ,,,just wait until Tokyo ...He did a good representation of it

    The only thing he didn't do is izakaya ...nomihodai and tabihodai !!!!( all the piss you can drink and all the food you can eat ,,,for 4000 yen !)

    The bike shops are what I started in when I arrived ...and the touring ,,,is the same ..So are the details...such as time keeping

    We have Just come back from the shrine after me oldest boys ceremony ,,,I must admit I do like wearing me Jap formal wear ! ( except the shoes ,,to Small)

    anyway its a good series ,,worth the download !

    I watched the series when it was on. Can't remember whether I saw the Tokyo episode or not. I want to see it (again?) now anyway...

    Hey cool,

    I actually just finished watching The Long Way Round in the weekend (a bit slow off the mark I know) and felt a sense of emptiness when it finished. Didn't think to look if either of them had made anything else (although did know charlie did the Dakar).

    This could help fill the hunger gap.

    Cheers

    Shit after a quick wiki search it looks like i've got some series watching to do.

    * Long Way Round (2004 - With Ewan McGregor)
    * Race to Dakar (2006)
    * Long Way Down (2007 - With Ewan McGregor)
    * By Any Means (2008)
    * By Any Means 2 (2009)

    Marine...

    After Long Way Round they made Long way down, from John O'Groats to Cape Town. It lacks the raw adventure of LWR and is hampered by scheduling and by the possibility of terrorists in Africa. Still worth a watch though.

    A third 'Long Way" adventure has just been announced taking in (I think) South America.

    Race to dakar was good - at least when he whined - he had something to whine about (broken arm or two)
    it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    Bump...

    Bit slow off the mark myself having just watched the first 3 episodes of RTD...I almost turned the thing off actually cos of Charley's incessant whining and general softness. Only really kept watching it for the bikes and adventure aspects of it (and of course the Dakar itself), but seriously the guy himself shits me. He's a pussy, he's lazy, he... anyway rant rant rant.

    At the end of the day I suppose he is / was an actor and as such probably has brittle bones, weak ligaments and a low threshold for pain and discomfort, but to be fair he does bring us this light entertainment.

    LWD is next so I'll see if he kept up his bollocks in true british boorman fashion. Also got his book "by Any means" given to me as a gift. Talk about boring! I'm about half way through and would need to seriously bored to want to pick it up and finish it...

    Rant over....for now...
    There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

    If you dont like Charleys moaning in RTD, you wont like Ewan McGregor's moaning in LWD/LWR about everything
