I like to 'tap' cops![]()
The world will look up and shout "Save Us!", and I'll whisper "no"
Was about 18-19 years old, sitting in a Humber 80 at night with two mates.
The smoke is so thick we didn't see the cop car pull up behind us,then comes a tap on the window.I wound down the window an the cop was enveloped in a cloud of the WRONG type of smoke.Da boys/us/we just about shit bricks.
Cop says "what the fuck do you think your doing" I say "Ummm, just about to go home actualy"He says, good bugger off home then.
Fast forward about 25yrs,a good mate who just happens to be a cop gives me some advice that since has seen me make a lot of money and at the same time enabled me to recover from a huge loss, buy another home, get life back on track from a situation that seemed at the time to be almost the end of the road.
I also have a mate who's a police dog handler,he does SAR work when he should be taking it easy. Not long after meeting him I watched him carry a kid with a broken leg for around 5kms,wouldn't accept a hand, never took a break, looked bloody uncomfortable when the kids parents tryed to thank him.
For several years I was hunts master for a local Archery club, some of the club members didn't want me in the position due to a FEW tattoos and a bit of a dodgy past but I got the position anyway.
Afterwards I found out this guy was the main reason for me getting there.
In my books you couldn't hope to meet a better man,I look at most cops in the same way, their sure not doing the job for the money.

30 April 2005
By DON KAVANAGH
New Zealand's police might be facing pressure over speeding ticket quotas, poor response times and dirty pictures on their computers, but a woman in Australia is fortunate to have had their help.
Constable Darrel Cowen was in the watch house at Palmerston North police station at 4.30am yesterday, busy with paperwork, when the phone rang. A distraught woman said she was going to kill herself as soon as she had hung up.
Mr Cowen kept her talking while trying to trace her whereabouts. It proved harder than expected. The former Palmerston North resident was calling from Melbourne.
Mr Cowen kept the woman on the phone for an hour as colleagues tried to contact Melbourne police to trace the call.
Interpol was brought in and Mr Cowen was still on the phone when police turned up at the woman's address.
The matter was resolved without the woman hurting herself, Detective Sergeant Tim Moffatt said. "I have no idea why she would ring us. She was a resident here some time ago, but she wasn't someone we would have had a lot to do with."
Mr Moffatt stressed the woman did not call collect.

Mr Cowen was unavailable for comment, making the most of some well-deserved time off.
