    A classic survivor.

Some members here in Christchurch have shown interest in this car over the years. I've been asked at times by riders if it's for sale.

Here is the link to the auction as it's now on trademe.

And here's a link to a lot of close up pictures and detail etc.

    Nice car !!

I always liked the Colt GTO's. They were a beast in their day. Unfortunately, you try finding a good one nowadays also.

Sitting in my sisters garage in hoonhay, is a green GTO. My nephew bought it in the mid 80's, it was put into the garage, placed on blocks, fluids drained and left there. He bought it for when he has done the family thing.
The GTO was the best of the bunch, I believe they were only sold in NZ as an over run frim Mitsubishi.
As for the Colt. well hate to tell you, I distroyed around 100 during the 90's because of the rust laws, and the imports comming on themarket.

And I can pretty much guarantee you won't see too many more of these around in this condition! I've only ever seen 2 others in Christchurch, one shitter and the other was a VERY nice midnight purple one tastefully modded, complete with an Evo 4G63T engine.

1850 GTO was the one.Looking back with the old rose tints we can say they were much better than the British stuff - but at the time there was nothing in it really. They had just as many problems, leaked as much oil, wore out as many brakes, rusted out completely like everything else. But as always, they never handled as well as British and European cars.

I owned one, burned orange in colour. I put a 5 speed and twin carbs, hot cam, man it was fun. Pillarless coupe. Looked cool cruising down Queen street, in the days when you cruised down Queen street.

I had a GTO back in the day, also a cordia turbo (the good 5 speed one) a sapporo and a 16L much like the one in the first post.

I like my Mitsubishi's, I even have one now.

Not when they were new - I worked at a Lower Hutt Todd dealer in the 70s when the first 16Ls came in. Next to Hunters and Avengers, these things were a revelation - they idled, the heater worked, they didn't leak water into the passenger cell. And they were bloody quick (and handled at least as well as a Hunter or Avenger - not that the average purchaser cared)

My mum bought an early GTO, a 1700 (used the Saturn motor, the 1850s and2 litre were the Astron). Coming from a Humber 90 it was like being on another planet.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
