Yer I just heard that. My wife is down there visiting family with the kids. Loud enough to wake 2 of the boys. She reckons it's pretty impressive.

That was intense, I can't remember the last time I saw an abrupt change like that. Quite violent winds, marble sized hail and an intense lighting display illuminating the entire sky.

Sounded bloody impressive. Thought the hail was going to come through the bedroom window! Should've gotten my carcass out of bed and had a look- I love a good thunderstorm.

It was pretty cool. Over this way the hailstorm could only be described as violent. Some of the hail was golf ball sized.

Took a photo of some of the hail on the ground afterwards. Will post the pic when the film is developed.

    Today it's just cold.... brrrrrrrrr.

    Was cold in Dunedin.

Hailed for 5 - 10 minute periods from 7am to 1:30 in the afternoon , roads were very white. Some light snow.

Went out for a ride , was doing a good 40 kmph through the icy roads. The gritters had done a good job as they always do.

After I went through the icy roads, I thrashed my bike. It loves the freezing cold air, revs so freely.

Nope. Snowed here today- only for a few mins though. Mostly it was rain, hail and gale force winds. 4°C at noon.

On the building sites, all of us loathe winter. Mud turns to complete shit. Sites get water logged. Landscaping is a real problem. You end up with an additional 3-5 cm on your shoes from the mud.

In summer we bitch and moan about how hot it is.

There is no pleasing some of us really. The perfect weather doesn't exist...
