Smile I'm coming home the long way... (Beddhist)

    Hi girls and boys,

So, I'm supposed to introduce myself. Peter's my name and I'm currently in Germany, hibernating at my parents' place.

I've got a DR650SE, set up for the ride home. About early March, when the temperatures rise again (a little) I'll be pointing it towards Iran and then keep going straight ahead. Well, sort of. Lots of detours, loops and stops.

This summer I've gone up GB and Scandinavia, down the Baltic Countries and Poland. The first part of this trip is recorded here: http://beddha.free.fr/Trip/F_GB/F_GB.html

As you can see there were two of us. Sadly, my partner has decided to stay in France, so I'm setting off on my own.

The trip should take longer than a year and updates will (hopefully) be posted on the above site. Perhaps I'll bump into the German folks (Enduroreisende) touring NZ in Thailand or India, who knows. The world seems to get smaller all the time.

    Cheers,
    Peter.

    Welcome and safe trips mate
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Frayed knot. My last big trip was in '89, when I shipped my CX500 with home-built one-wheel trailer to Bombay. Spent two years on the road to and around Europe. Here is my rig in Germany:

too cool, peter. it's people like you, who do what they need to do, when they need to do, that keep the rest of us honest, and remind us that nothing is impossible. who said 'if at first the idea does not seem absurd, then surely it is doomed to fail'? einstien i think

    Thumbs up And I'm back!

    Hi,

Almost 4 years later and 3 years on the road and I have landed back in NZ. Not alone, mind you. You can read about my adventures on the road here: http://beddha.free.fr .

On arrival the first shock: customs made us wait for our bikes for a week! Should have packed them into our bags, they hardly looked into them in the airport. Then they forgot to charge us tax on my partner's bike.

    Next shock: it's freezing cold!

So, we have already been around Northland and should be heading for Coromandel and East coast soon.

    Ride safely,
    Peter & Su.
