WTB - Bike for 4 months travel

I'm a Canadian landing in Auckland on Dec 3rd and am looking for a bike to travel around NZ with.

I'd prefer a Dual-Purpose ( Kawasaki KL650, or like) and 600+ CC. Bigger frame the better, as I'm 6'9" and around 300lb, not including backpack.

Unfortunately I can't use trademe.co.nz as I'm not a NZ or Aust. resident.

If you have any leads, or know any one looking to sell, please send me a message on KB.

    Thanks, and good riding

    BTox.

Sign up an account with a NZ address (Address of any place will do. They will not check if you actually live here UNLESS you choose address verification - this is entirely voluntary.)

Unfortunately, they can tell I'm operating outside NZ and canceled my membership.... I guess I'll have to do my surfing once I'm in town.

Too bad, I found a gorgeous 1200 Bandit.... hope it doesn't sell to quickly =)

Only have to wait until Wednesday or so......

Trademe are a little backward like that.

Tried to cancel my membership as I accessed it whilst overseas

Now that I've seen a few bikes. I have to start thinking about insurance. I know that it's optional in NZ but would rather have some than none. Is there a competitive market in NZ or is it like BC where it's a government monopoly for base insurance with a 3rd party option for extra coverage? I already have extended medical insurance for myself. I'd just like to find out what my options are as far as where I can go and talk to an insurance agent.

    Thanks

Plenty of companies here offering it.

Check with your travel insurance company - they may offer it.

Failing that, PM Jetboy on here, or go to www.kiwibike.co.nz

Actually, if you want to buy a bike for four months and then sell it, send Frosty a PM.

He might be able to do a buy-back deal for you. (i.e. you do less that 10,000kms and don't prang it, and he'll pay you $X for it when you leave).
