Yep we had a good time, good ride up thru the Wairapa, Pahiatua track. Hitcher, Paul in NZ & co rode straight past us at Ashurst while we were on a coffee break. Ride up thru Kimbolton & Mangaweka would have been better if not for a deflating rear tyre and piece of metal 6cm long ( tyre had done less than 1000k's) V Twin enjoyed this road first time on it.
Good venue, good food, fun auction & quiz, Can you do something about the weather as the ride home was a bit cold for us. Viv & I had trouble with carb icing which kept the speed down to a cruise.
We parted company with the Wgtn group at Bulls and battled the wind all the way back home.
Stonechucker you need to invest in some good riding trousers and thermals, not being able to feel your feet is not a good thing.

I would like to add my thanks to Brett and Paula/fembots for their efforts. I had an awesome time. A special thanks to everybody who helped push start my bike each day, the ride back was marred by a progressive lack of electricity - not enough for instruments and indicators at the same time.

Thanks to Deano's special powers, every cop we saw occured legally. Unfortunately they were not strong enough to cope with the weather too.

    Cheers

    Ola

    Thanks peoples

Thanks peoples for your concern and to everyone who stopped. Update is that I have a fractured scaphoid and all the pleasure of having my right hand/most of my thumb/arm in plaster (and yes I am right handed)! Yeeehaaa!

But apart from that I had a great time at the rally. Great to meet so many people and I think we had a really great mix there. Had a blast on the ride back - some awesome roads there.

So huge thankyou to Quasi and Paula for all the time and effort you put into organising it. Just one bit of advice Bret - don't say you are pleased there were no casualties at the end of the ride - wait until everyone gets home before making inflammatory comments like that - you know what those Gods are like!!!!!!

Cant wait for the next one - in Summer I hope - and would be happy with the same location - Pipers was a great place to stay and I think we were very well looked after.

It's nice and warm inside, now...

Yesterday was a bit bleak. The meterological status indicator on the ST's datashow recorded a crisp 3 degrees all the way from National Park to Ohakune, where it warmed to an encouraging 5. Shortly after leaving Raetihi on the Parapara road, it was back down to 2, and raining, and blowing. Lovely.

The Paras were "exciting", even though we weren't doing Isle of Man speeds, thanks to the weather and a bonnie wee lassie on a smokey GN250. I had the back end on the ST step out on one corner, followed a couple of milliseconds later by the front. The warmth in my trousers was welcomed...

As we got closer to Wanga-vegas the day had warmed to a temperate 10 degrees when we stopped for lunch at the Avoca Hotel at Upukungaru. We had the pub and its most thermal of fireplaces all to ourselves ('ourselves' being Paul In NZ, Vicki, Sels1, Jazbug5, Mrs H and me). Good and plentiful plunger coffee, great plates of food and an amorous corgi called Jess ("Bungbung, we'll be together at last," she panted, breathlessly).

Then it was off out into the gales. Jazbug and I got buffeted more than a bit by an impressive crosswind. Mrs H on the Marauder had a lovely sedate voyage.

We had third breakfast at the Red Shed at Te Horo. Sels1 could smell the homefires burning by this stage and didn't stop with us. Paul and Vicki scarpered at Raumati, leaving Jazbug, Mrs H and I to ride into the throat of a southerly that was just starting to gargle...

A most excellent rally. We had a blast. Many, many thanks to Quasi and the Fembots for all of their organisational skills. Deserving of a Kiwibiker Order of Merit (if there was such a thing).

Pipers did us proud too. No, it's not the Hilton but nor does it pretend to be. The service was outstanding and the food more than acceptable for 50-dinners-served-simultaneously -- and all at the same time too!

It was great to meet a bunch of new folk and to put faces (and names) to online handles. And also to renew acquaintances with people previously met.

You folks are a great bunch. Take a bow, one and all!

    Memories of the weekend:
    Great people
    Log fire
    Pimms
Paul's music quiz (SPMan is a bloody marvel, and we were fortunate to have him in our team)
One of our winning Tee-shirts served as a nightie for Mrs H (good planning there)
    Squitty doublebed
    The infamous shower curtains
    Lots of food.

Looking forward to more posted pics...

    Cheers (& Pimms) -- Jane & Brett

Nice truck. Dodge? Glad to see that there are real trucks in this country and not the tiny little half toners.
