I've got dri-rider Nordic Pro two pieces cordura gear and it dont leak.

I had an issue with the jacket after just over a year with one arm letting in water at the inner elbow area but changed the jacket and all is sweet.
I ride a naked sports tourer every day rain or shine and recommend this gear. with the jacket and trouser combo the wedding tackle is covered twice (if you know what I mean). You can live with wet hands, feet even arms but wet bollocks noooooo.

For around $20 you can get pvc+nylon pants from the warehouse. (get a large size, I use 3XL)

So far these have lasted longer and preformed better than all other options I have tried.
    (tested in Wellington downpours)
I finally got my knee down! …and my shoulder …and my pillion’s head.

My leathers are water proff untill it rains, so i got a North Ridge jacket/leggings set from a camping store.Used them on the way home from Welly via Wanganui yesterday. It pretty much pissed down the whole way back to Tauranga. They are light weight and roll up to not much bigger than a heavey pair of sox.The jacket didn't let in a drop but the leggings seeped water in round the crutch.Seems to be they seep water in on contact points like the seat/tank So after 6 hours in heavey rain i had a wet arse/feet/hands the rest of me was dry as ,$79.00 for the jacket and $60.00 for leggings

Ditto my Spidi gear. And yes, it received all the special wash and spray treatments...

I eventually got pissed off with the leaky gear. Now I have a full set of GoreTex including gloves and boots - and a lot less money.

    So far though, so good.

Since when did wet Bollocks ever have appeal to lose?

Aint that the truth...After years of assorted gear/ over suits, PVC, mobig and dririder...I bit the bullet. After negoiations with a similar finance dept mentioned earlier, I bought a Spidi Admiral one piece.

For one or two day rides in predictable weather its the leather. For three days plus or when I know it will be wet, its the admiral I get...

The last 12 day, 7500km ride, it rained heavy on 9 days with a couple of "It rained all day showers", including the very wet Rusty Nuts GC. I stayed bone dry, bollocks included, with two exceptions, a dribble down the back of the neck and down the sleeves into the gloves.

It doesn't matter what bike you are on, if it rains you get wet (unless you are in the pub) and the old saying of you get what you pay for is what you need to remember.
I have payed the price as i have mobig. i have returned them 3 times as they leak though the seams so after riding home on Wed from Welly, just my back was dry, i am about to tell them were to put them and go and buy so good ones. my Xmas presant to my self.

Thanks folks, I get the picture now and I'm moving towards some good kit. I ride every day for two hours so paying a grand on kit looks cheap spread over a year...and being dry is nice when I arrive at work (I dont mind so much on the home run).

    Thanks for your time.

I found the same coldwetnuts issue and found my cordura suit split a seam on the "waterproof" liner. I use bib-type waterproof pants as found at safety shops and ag suppliers over the top of either dragon jeans in warm weather or over the corduras if its cold. Corura jacket over the bib pants seems to work - double layer chest to crotch - the bits that seem to leak due to air pressure methinks
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

anything with a man-sized hole in it WILL leak, but generally the more you spend, the longer that takes. Leather is windproof and waterproof ONLY when its on a cows arse - soon as its off there, dry and warm riding only.

Spend the $'s and get good gear that FITS, ADJUST it so it doesnt beat itself into pinhole leaks, and enjoy ..........

You can be cold, you can be wet - but both at the same time is no bloody good to anyone, ESPECIALLY Big Jim and the Twins !

I do the same - I have a pair of dairy farmers bib overalls and a dairy farmers waterproof coat that I can wear over my cordura.

It can be a hassle stopping to put it on, but its very effective - seems to be the rain cant find a way around al the corners to get ya.

And it dries in a flash.

The best waterproofs are the ones the dairy farmers use - go to a RD1, Carters or whoever your local ag supplier is - and they are not that expensive. Size em to fit over your leathers or over corduras even better.

To explain the leak further, it is the kind of leak that provides a similar sensation to that of someone pouring a cup of cold water down the top of your pants. Nice.

As you can imagine, this becomes rather tedious and so I am after wet weather gear that wont leak.

    My questions to you are:
    1. Am I being ridiculous? Does all wet weather gear leak eventually?
    2. How long should you expect wet weather gear to hold its waterproofing?
    3. Is this just a side effect of a naked bike? (should I sort out a fairing?)

I'd appreciate any advice you could offer, especially from those commuters out there that have handled years of wet weather abuse with a dry set of bollocks (or feminine variant of such).

(people who enjoy and actively seek wet bollocks need not apply)
I have been round the one-piece suit, then goretex gear, etc etc loop, and have arrived at the following:

I prefer to always wear my leather and armour, rather than synthetic or cordura.
There is a rain-wear company called ORINGI that makes farmer wear. The fabric is rubberised polymer, 100% waterproof and 100% seam sealed. They make a garment called a milkers shirt that has no zips, no pockets, and wet-suit style cuffs. Put that on over riding trousers of the same type, and you wwill never get wet.
Whats more, it all rolls up small enough to get it under a sport bike seat, and it drys in 10 minutes.
I can get this gear on over my leathers in 1 min, and off again when it drys up. Its also very useful on dry days for a cold start early on winter mornings, when its a bit cold for just leathers.

The milkers shirt and pants cost about $230, and will do for several years.
