    Changes at Motorcycling New Zealand

    Posted: Friday, 20th November, 2009 : 2:02 PM - - 39 Reads -

After a detailed operational review of it’s current staffing structure and requirements, the Board of Motorcycling New Zealand Inc., acting on the recommendations of HR company Directioneering Ltd, have moved to restructure their organisation.

The review included a comprehensive consultation process, and after consideration of the recommendations and the subsequent feedback, the Board decided to proceed with the new structure, which includes the disestablishment of the current Chief Executive Officer and Administration Manager positions.

The new structure will take effect immediately.

The Board considered it necessary to proceed with the changes to realise organisational efficiencies and a resulting year on year cost savings in six figures.

“The Board looked carefully at the total proposal and are now looking forward to moving forward,” said President Jim Tuckerman from his Auckland base.

    Consulted with who ?
Any body seen ANYTHING about the new structure ?
No CEO no Administration Manager - so does that mean the (three ?) remaining office staff run MNZ ?

come on guys, think about it ........
Press release was sent out to all parties at the same time - those among the first to publish are obviously the ones with their finger on the pulse

Wharfy, if that name is indicative, you should know that any review involving staffing levels etc MUST include a process of consultation with the parties

Unless I'm mistaken, MNZ will continue to be run by the Board, and the staff in the office in Huntly will do their best to carry out those decisions

I'm sure there will be some that will see a hidden agenda - fact is the entire operation was reviewed by an OUTSIDE, UNBIASED Specialist in this area with a view to creating efficiencies in the good ship MNZ which was, lets be honest, LEAKING money........
Any business that spends almost half its total turnover on wages ALONE is in trouble, and it would have been piss-poor management not to investigate

The nickname is not indicative of me being a waterside worker
I have however been through a number of "re-structure's" so I am a bit sceptical about management methods and motivation when it comes to such things.
MNZ is NOT a business - it is an Incorporated Society , and as a paid up member (who DID vote and DID go to the AGM) I would have liked to have some clue that such a radical plan was on the agenda. It may be that this is the best thing for MNZ but how would I know without any information ?

It is generally easy to get this information, contact the chair of the board for it. You are a member and have a right to know the direction of MNZ. Having tried to work with this organisation and come across its inefficiencies a number of times a shake up may be one of the things that is needed.

The members have choosen Jim to represent them (even by default of not voting they did that too) ... part of that is letting them get on the job and get shit done to make it better. Time will tell if this works - as with any organsiation.

disestablishment of the current Chief Executive Officer and Administration Manager positions.

The new structure will take effect immediately.
Very interesting, Does this mean the "positions" have gone but the people will stay under a different title or the respective staff have gone as well? They say change is better than a holiday so I willl look forward to the next AGM to see the benefits they have realised.
Wouldn't be racing if it wasn't for:MotoMart, Pirelli, EBC Brakes, Ripecoffee.co.nz, Slotmedia.co.nz, Totalbodyshop.co.nz and Wurth

As long as you don't expect immediate benefits ... it takes time to realise anything from any changes ...

Actually I think you'll find that is normal. For a lot of businesses wages is the biggest expense.

Hence the reason many business look to computerise and automate tasks, have things made in china, etc.

Sorry, its NOT normal at all...... and for most businesses, wages is the biggest INVESTMENT they make. I come from a unionised workplace background, and unfortunately dealt with the fallout of numerous "reviews". in fact, I was a casualty of just such a review, so I KNOW how the two affected people feel. I understand that both Jill and Pav have left MNZ already, and I for one wish them both well

The review identified efficiencies in systems, and this then led to the changes in staffing levels. I'm on record as saying before the election that the problem was NOT that the ladies in the office werent working hard - rather that they werent able to work smarter due to some of the systems in place

I sincerely hope that this will be the start of something a lot more positive for the future of the Organisation. Sadly, I expect that there will be repercussions involving Lawyers - NOT because there were procedural problems in the process,( I'm told the whole thing was handled BY THE BOOK ) but because its simply human nature to strike back when you FEEL that you've had the shaft. Rightly or Wrongly

I understand that this review was proposed during the tenure of the LAST Board, but didnt eventuate for unknown reasons - so forget all about this review being the result of any sort of a personal vendetta.

It would appear that there IS a personal vendetta going down, but BJT and other Board members are on the BROWN end of the McCleary stick
