Iv,e lived in two other countrys beside NZ,I was the outsider an I listened to the same thing I,m hearing here,Only it was about me.
He took my job,He won,t mix with the locals,He don,t understand
our road rules,All kiwi,s are druggys,kiwi,s are violent,Ect ect ect.
I had a job when the locals didn,t because I wanted it more,I didn,t mix with the locals because they didn,t even bother to cover the fact they hated me.So why bother.
In every day traffic I could and will be cut off and messed with by people of all types.It seems to depend more on where I am than anything.In Remuera it will be some white bitch or male yuppie in a BMW,In Otara it will be an Islander in a Van,Out west it will be some white mullet head in a Jap import.Do you know what race the guy on the Triumph that killed the girl up north was.I do because he comes from my home town,I knew the guy,he was a pain in the arse,P pushing thief an no one around here is sorry to see him gone,And he was a good old boy Kiwi,Thru an Thru,
I enjoy people from other countrys,I like to see them in NZ as they add a bit of much needed flavour.An by the way the Asian bakery out my way makes choise pies.If you feel threatened in your own country,grow a back bone because it ain,t gonn,a change.And as far as every one being a little Racist,Bullshit you can count me out of that,If I decide I dislike somebody it will be for a real reason an nothing to do with their race.NZ is a mixed race country,it always has been,get used to it.It will always crack me up when I have to listen to some self obsessed white boy bitching about Asians when he rides a Jap bike,buys crap from the wharehouse made in China or taiwan.Sorry guys but when ever I hear this type of thing I can,t help but label the people doing it as blind fools,if nothing else it,s called evolution,you can,t fight it.In a hundred years you probably won,t see a white face in NZ,

Marmoot, I'm from the US, and it is a bit of american indian that make me people think I'm part asian. As such I have experienced some of what you speak. Once in the US, friends and i went into a store, my friends Am japanese, were fellow architects. The lady asked if we were brothers, we said no ..work mates. She asked what we did. WE told her architects and she replied in total sincerity, I haven't seen many pagodas in Seattle.

I was furious and told her so. Later my friends said don't worry about it, happens all the time.

Jack is right however is a transgression happens more than once then the stereotype begins which gets spread and eventually leads to racism. ie-asians are bad drivers.

Marmoot is right in that each of us must make an effort to be pissed off at the individual, and not take the next step into generalizations.

Unless you've experienced prejudice it's easy to apply it.

I have predictably opened a smelly can of worms here.
At the time I wrote it I was pissed off. I dont take back what I have written. But I would like to apoligise to those who I may have offended.

Can't hardly cross a paddock these days without tripping in a sheep rut or seeing them everywhere & they always stick together, never mingling & trying to be a part of 'our culture' they're taking up all our land.
