I joined the group and posted the following:

"Various protests are under discussion by various groups at the moment and there is a strong motivation not to inconvenience the general public.
We received huge support from Joe Public during recent protests.
Our next task is to let the average Kiwi road user know that their car registration will be $400 to $500 in 2010/2011.
By the way "John Smith" which organisation do you work for? ACC or the National Party?"

If there is any validity in this facebook page we can use this type of attack against them -free advertising

    Thumbs down

This is my first post here, and my name is not John Smith, my name is James. I joined Johns little group to post some comments, there are more posts telling John hes a dick than what I think he was intending with his Facebook, or should that be Facelessbook protest page. After all John as your post said how many people do you need to be called a protest. All hes accomplished so far is knowing what you have to do to be called a dick. But he has rights too, and this is only one bikers opinion.

Why don't we get stickers that say "OK but lets share the ACC costs as well" and put them on every one of those signs?

Have you got those signs everywhere else? Or are they just in the Lindis pass area?

If they are able to be peeled off without ruining the signs, we can't be accused of being vandals!

Just a thought, anyone else got any suggestions?

I'm going to enquire in Oamaru how much they would cost to make.

If they are not too expensive I might get some made and stick them on the local signs myself.

Somethings wrong with this forum not updating the post counts.

I have no idea who john smith is. look in the whitepages phone book and there are heaps of J smith's. it is a pretty common name. doesn't mean it's a fake.

i have not joined the facebook group nor have my friends but we have all looked at it. i agree with the facebook group though. even on this forum there is a Mission bay protest thread that reads:

We also will be supporting the local businesses so they are not disadvantaged because of this protest action.

So it may be a get together but part of it is still a protest as the thread says:

If we do it right, there wont be any parking for cars available, highlighting the fact that if these bastards tax us off the roads
Yeah, and that protest was mine. We have just come back from it. We got nothing but positive feedback from the public and the business owners and the police and the media. Not one single negative at all, and very little parking for cars available. Totally sucessful effort. What bike do you ride again?

i just joined the group and posted this.....
So.....do you john smith actually know what the hell your talking about? We bikers are protesting about the government changing the ACC bill so they can alter ANY AND ALL acc levies they like, INCLUDING CAR ACC LEVIES!!! WHICH MEANS YOU ALSO WILL BE PAYING MORE!!! They are only doing this so that ACC can look fully funded and therefore be able to sell it off to Australian Insurance Companies, turning it into an insurance scheme and no long a no fault compensation corporation. This is not where our country should be heading. Many times ACC has been heralded as the best scheme of its kind in the world, and if whinging little people who know nothing about what they are saying like you keep on doing this instead of waking up and seeing that we (the motorcyclists) are fighting this fight... on behalf of ALL OF NEW ZEALAND, then we are all gonna be fucked and completely screwed over and raped by national privatising ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THEY WANT!!!! Make sure that you research things fully before you go opening your tiny little mouth.

it would be funny if it was nick smith. but does nick even have a 'official' facebook profile?

the facebook group seems to be updated now with....

    "UPDATE:
Don'T WANNA pay increased ACC motorbike levies? SOLUTION: SELL YOUR MOTORBIKE. No motorbike = No need to pay ACC motorbike levies. Can't you protesters figure that out? Hey maybe if you ALL did that the government will DECREASE acc motorbike levies because they will be getting alot LESS revenue."

    interesting idea i think.

The logic in that is totally flawed. Perhaps that person would also like to have had their shower head changed so that they didn't use as much water - because the government told them they were using too much.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
