    Pack rack recommendations/options?

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a pack rack and bag system to use on longer trips. Is ventura the only 'decent' option in the NZ market?...or does anyone know of a good or better alternative?

I've been reading a few bad reviews about the quality of the bags thats all..

Any help here would be appreciated.

    Cheers

I've just bought a 'Tour-Line' from a guy on TradeMe (Bein2win). Fits a Ventura rack perfect. The guy imports them from Aus. I Only paid $80 for a 50L bag and very impressed with the quality. If you google the company, you can see the range of bags they do, The 50L is the largest.

I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

How waterproof is it mate? I need a new bag that can keep my laptop as safe as possible.

Haven't tried her in the wet yet but got a rain cover as part of the deal. Can't make it for the Wed cruisy this week or I would have thrown it on the back for you to check it out. I'll organise a viewing the next time I catch up with you and you can check it out.

The rack is excellent. The bag you choose is a separate issue and there are many opinions on that matter.
    Here for the ride.

I use a Venturer Packrack and Bags. Happy with them, they zip together on the rack, and do all I ask of them. When ever I go travelling, I will alwats put all my belongings into a plastic bag, inside the Packs. No matter how waterproof the manufacturer claims the bag to be, I wouldn't trust it at highway speeds. Water has a nasty habit of seeping through seems, zippers and such.

    Thanks for you reply dude.

Yeah, I'll be going down the Ventura route also. Good idea with plastic bags.

I have a Venturer rack and pack. Very waterproof and extremely good value.

I have the Ventura system as well.
I pack everything into plastic shopping bags and then put them into plastic rubbish bags that go into the actual pack bags.

A bit anal you could say but I dont want to get to the end of a wet ride and find the 'dry' clothes I want to put on are wet.

you might want to have a read of my recent thread, to give you an alternative to fitting a pack rack. i'm about to order some kriega gear from the UK and am keen to share shipping with someone. it's very well made and completely waterproof.

    Jesus!...Looks like awesome gear!

I'd be keen for one of the packs, the problem is that I live in Wellington and as you're not keen to pass on outside of Auckland, I'll have to pass dude. I don't have any contacts in Auckland unfortunately...

    Thanks

    Merlin
