GS500 tail section?

Okay, so I want to raise the height of my GS500's Tail section to make a little streetfighter like.
Has anyone had this mod done to their bike? how much did it/would it cost and who did you get it done through?
I've made a possible rough plan as to how to go about it but I wouldnt have a clue with what works and what doesnt.

i did a couple of tail swaps on my gs500's
a gsxr and a r6
i built a custom subframe for the r6 tail and just bolted the gsxr subframe to the butchered gs500 one,
the problem with altering the seat angle is that the plastics will no longer match,
not really a major if you can fibreglass it.

but what i would do, if i was to do it again, is buy a complete tail and subframe from a wreckers, the r1 and a6 are pretty classic and look quite good on the gs,

once you have the donor tail then just chop the old tail at the approate spot and then weld tabs and bolt the new one in place,

since you were mucking round with the sub frame do you have to get any of this kind of mod cert'd??? did ya have any probs with W.O.F. and not having a cert???

cut the subbie of at the frame and start again, it's quite easy really. with a bit of savvie you can work it out. i cut all the steel and then gaffa taped it together until i got it right then measured/welded etc. then weld on lugs for batt box,ecu and bodywork. just in the middle of a gsxr1000k6 tail on the Bandit12 along with gsxr750k4 front end. really not rocket science, drink plenty of coffee and have a big note pad handy.

all good, no certs needed, the subframe isnt classed as a structual part of the bike... (except when it is... eg. a twin shock bike)

not according to the wof man when i did my 2 gs500's never had any issues at all

Ah huh, and one of my bikes has no reflector on the back but still has a warrant... Warrant men are (fortunately at times) not exactly the brightest sparks in the world.
