Well, didnt get there but decided to do a quick run over the Rimutakas to Featherston today. Wind, about 90 friggin knots from every direction. - almost took the front wheel from under me on three corners in violent gusts as well as a following gust trying to blow me into a cliff face on a downhill tight right hander![]()

Ok guys, my pics have been added to the gallery. They didn't come out as well as Spankme's pics but still good all the same!
I had a great time although I'm wondering if my riding technique needs some adjustment. My habit of lifting my butt over the seat to lean off for all but the more gentle corners has left my thighs in some serious pain! I know i'm an an unfit bugger at the moment but do other people have this happen to them as well? How about Motoracer?? Dude, you looked like you were attacking every corner as though it was your last! do you suffer pain or are you fit?
Anyway... had a great time, went home tired, sore and very happy.
ROLL ON THURSDAY!!:
i fully agree about motoracers riding coldkiwi...i noticed him getting off EVERY SINGLE corner sorta thing.. which i thought was very enthusiastic at first... and was doing myself.. but after about the first 10 corners i was already feeling like i could easily give-up this technique... was really amazing to see even that last bit b4 te irriangi drive he was still keen as mustard working those legs!! i was long shot... And just yesterday i rode to friggin Kerikeri 2up, then rode back alone.. thats 1100km i coverd over sat/sun.. the most ive ever done before and i am feeling sooo snotted in the legs and right shoulder... finally udnerstanding what some of you olderones talk about... and im only 18 with aches and pains after 2 ddays riding![]()
A great ride all round even for the grannies like me. The cyclists and hence slow traffic made the ride that much more interesting. I have never been around there but i think i might end up going to botany from howick via the coromandel one day. Meet heaps of great people cheers for the experience i really gotta work on my cornering though, soooooo slow in but ok out.

Hahhaha, yea thats the 3rd person to say that about my hanging off riding style. Yes, I have been going for runs so I wasn't in pain or anything. I was a little tired when I got home but thats the usual. I guess thats just the way I ride. if I don't do that, I don't seem to make the bike steer properly.
Saturday was my first proper ride after a long long time so I wasn't in my usual riding form. Once I can get down low enough, I just rest some weight on the scraping knee and hang on to the bike with the other leg, feels pretty comfertable and I am able to go through the corners the fastest this way (I reckon I am putting some weight off the bike and directly on to the ground when scraping the knee, makeing bike lighter through the corners).
That might sound silly to the pros out there. If I am not up to speed when I start racing, I might have to change/adapt to a differnt or "better" style as I go along. Currently its working for my road riding.
aaah was that you with the 'bayliss' leathers? the mrs was mentioning it to me.
Yes that was me. lol
