Perhaps he meant the Bombay Services???
Thanks to everyone that came out for the ride - I had a fantastic day.
I couldn't believe it when the Auckland crew finally arrived! I think I heard someone say there were 19 bikes, is that right?
A beautiful day, lovely roads, and great company. The classic cars, and wonderful new seal on the Coromandel Hill were definitely highlights (that tarmac was less than 6 months old last time I rode it, and falling all to pieces).
And despite the fact that I supplied Spankme with sunblock for his bald noggin (too late though, unfortunately) I got home to find the back of my neck was rather red & my arms were on the pink side too.
Si - I am eternally grateful that you've got a fantastic sense of humour. And you're a lot quicker on your feet than I could have imagined!

I was barely able to operate the clutch by the time we were halfway from Coromandel to Thames, and it got worse on the way home. I had to resort to using my whole hand to move the lever into the bar, because I had no grip strength left at all.
I know you boys could probably suggest an exercise for forearm strength that comes naturally to you, but any other useful suggestions for me? The pain up my arm & into my elbow was excruciating.
It was a relief to find that we were all comfortable riding at our own pace. Truly. It's one of the reasons I ride on my own most of the time. It was a pleasure to ride with a group of people so happy to do their own thing within the ride, and a surprise on a couple of occasions to find bigger bikes sitting behind me, but quite happy to remain there, despite several attempts on my part to give them room to pass & get on their way. Kinda nice to have someone "covering your back" without any pressure on me to go faster.
I look forward to the next time I get a chance to join another rideout with you lot.
