    Dedicated scooter forum?

Do you think there is enough demand for one in NZ ?

I know Scootling (tuning focus) and Magnetos (old vespa owner focus) have one but they have very little traffic and would get pretty lonely rather quickly.
I have the resources to create a hosted forum but wouldnt want to do so if there is no demand and it ends up in the deserted forum graveyard.

Anyways shout it up or knock it down-- feedback required
    cheers

    Tom

What's wrong with the scooter forum on KB? What would your forum provide that the current KB scooter forum doesn't?

Set it up mate. You will need to cater for all scoots, maybe different makes and styles. Modern, classic, commuters, etc... You will get all walks of life of the scooter world.

Scootling is OK, Magnetos's as well, but they cater for their types a bit. A more general site might work. Do it, it will get some interest, just how much you wont know until you try.

It would be free of the cocks who post shit in the scooter section on how big their hand is on their sports bike willy.

How to win friends and influence people, eh...?

However, that aspect is a double-edged sword. While being a sub-forum of KB means that you'll get a few dick-heads posting, you'll also get the attention of some of the best motorcycle gurus in NZ.

Yeah aint friends with those who have screwed some good threads on here, scared scooterists and first timers off from posting, so would be nice to keep those guru's and lose the twats. Maybe a whole new site would give us that chance. KB recently lost a major guru because of some knobs, that aint good.

Cant put all bikers in one box with just one label and say the job is done,
Cant do the same with scooter riders either.
For me there is to much riding experience and information here, even if I do have to dodge the odd biker swinging a handbag at a scooterist.

Is this right that Scooters are considered 'Off-Topic' and not classed by KB as Motorcyclists?

This seems a bit harsh, but surely scooter riders should take the hint as being unwelcome.

This is not my personal view. I rode a scooter for a few years for getting to town and carrying shopping. Prefer a larger wheeled vehicle for the open road.

A solely scooter forum is always going to struggle to get a wide audience.

IMO, because you can't appeal to everyone who rides a scooter and please all of them.

I can't see a Burgman rider, for instance, being too interested in reading countless threads about vespers or Lambrettas. Or indeed, the 'modern' vesper types being interested in reading about anything other than where the next latte run is.
And then you've got the countless little fifty type people.

As it stands, there's already a plethora of scooter forums. Not necessarily NZ based, but they are there. They do tend to be aimed at niches, rather than scooter wide.

Also, once you include 'resources', money needs to be spent. My own scooter forum is free..
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

Theres heaps of different kinds of bikes, and scooters have just as much variation within their ranks. So to have a separate scooter forum wont hurt.

If people are only interested in just scooters... then they will have their place, and dont have to dodge any GSX riders stating they are gay faggots.. So thats a good thing. It might be small but so is the scooter section on here. For a positive angle, if you have the gumption to do this, I for one will be involved and plenty of others will no doubt have a look in. Just need different types of scooter sections, ie The Burgers can have their own etc...

If he did, what would you have done differently on a bike? most comments by cagers are made with the bravery of being in retreat.

    thanks for the feedback guys.

Opinion seems to be divided between suffering the indignity of redneck bikers on here but if you turn the other cheek you have access to " expertise or gurus " and others who say enough of not being welcome lets have our own forum as long as it caters for all types of scooterists.

I think it may be wise to wait a bit longer and see how this thread develops before making any commitments.

    cheers

Could always link it to a major scooter site to take advantage of global traffic... We are considering adding a forum to ours but at the moment we are holding fire...
