Don't the guru sites already exist? There's a couple (not NZ based) for real scooters. Scooterotica springs to mind, even though it's turning into a backslappping festival. There's a US based one for Burgervans. Two now, I think. One of them has a lot of followers that have imaginary friends, which ruins it a bit. Heaps of them for twist 'n' go mopeds. I'm sure SIP has one too.

I'm just not convinced that a forum that's all encompassing for scooters will be able to please a minority, let alone a majority.
It's only when you take the piss out of a partially shaved wookie with an overactive 'me' gene and stapled on piss flaps that it becomes a problem.

Well I have found the bike guys on here incredibly helpful and in the main sympathetic to this old scooterist. Yup the scoots cop some flac but only cos they know we bite and its mainly in good humour. Likewise I am quite happy to go play in some of the other threads. Don't take it so seriously. There will always be knockers of scooters , like knockers of any other type of bike. Scroll back thru the scooter Forum on here, theres plenty of good advice available. I wouldn't use another scooter site unless its to get another opinion on the bigger scooters I am considering buying.
It is entirely possible to teach an old blond new tricks!!!

Go the positive, if you dont try you dont succeed. Loads of examples from the past need not be quoted... blah blah. Cmon lets have something new and if it fails, oh well, shit happens. Bring on ambition!!!!!

Such a forum might make scooter owners feel more welcome than one which doesn't even acknowledge that posts about scooters count.

Then again, those of us who own both scooters and bikes possibly wouldn't visit it much if at all?

I'd support a scooter only site. I really enjoy all kinds of bikes and scooters. I do occasionally get pissed off with the childlike attitude of some bike riders here, and would rather not bother with the negative rubbish.

I do like this site though, and it covers the whole bike world, and there is loads of interesting people and experience here.
I have ridden lots of bikes, and owned quite a few. I own and ride scooters entirely now, and am really enjoying them both. They are a hoot to ride.

I don't care what people choose to ride .... it doesn't matter a jot to me, and I won't criticize what people ride. I don't see the point. You ride what you like ... or can afford.

I think it would be worth trying a NZ run, general scooter only site. Only time will tell if it floats. There are probably enough specialized scoot sites around catering for specific types.
Good on you for suggesting it 'Posthumourus'. I hope it takes off.

An "all in" NZ skoot club run of a different kind headed up your way, half the skoots on Friday morning half sat morning about 10 all up. Burgs, syms, vespers and a couple of bikes. The three day riders were going for a look at Cape Reinga, the two day riders Kaitaia.

Well they should have had good weather for their ride. Was it the "NZ scooter club" ? I haven't heard of one .. ? Or just a bunch or mates on scoots ?
Whatever ... it should have been fun!
I'm off for a late ride as soon as the AB's / French test is finished on Prime. I may see some of them, if they aren't already back in Auckland by now.
    Cheers.

Shouldn't that be "we" rather than "they"?

It would have been a "we" if I had a skoot with slightly bigger lungs.

Well .... I hope they had a great time. The weather should have been good for them. I didn't see any scoots on Sunday afternoon when I was out for a ride.

I'll have to check out the Magnetos site sometime.

    Check out the Magnetos

It has changed a bit since the old days and tends to be far less "egalitarian". All scoots are welcome, there are loads of runs planned and generally a good bunch of guys 'n gals. There is also a Christmas Lights run coming up, next week I think. Moped friendly....
