i live in the city, would be keen to ride with another newbie. my only other biker mate used to courier on his bike, safe to say he is a complete nut bar - at least compared to me.

as for hillstarts... i've found im able to hold my (relatively light) bike on all the hills i've encountered thus far. spose i should probably get round to learning that some time eh! might come in handy...

I just use the rear brake, stick it in first, then as you are able to feel the clutch grab, release the brake and off you go..

Welcome to the forums. My wife and I are also newbs (four months in). I ride an Intruder and she rides 125cc Fireblade. Let me know if you want to meet up with us somewhere for drinks (non-alcoholic of course) and a ride.

My suggestion for learning pull offs on a rise. Head to Auckland's downtown parking lot on an evening. Head for the top floor. They boom off the parking from level 4b but you can easily squeeze by. The last rise is perfect for practice.

Hmmm .... i think i need longer legs to be able to hold the bike on a hill ... can only JUST get both feet flat footed when im seated - i'm probably 5ft 2 with boots ... Ride sounds like a good idea too!
