    Feeling old and unfit...

So the days finally ticked over and it was time to get the newly purchased older new bike out for a test day.

The bike is Hayden Fitztgeralds ex Honda NZ 06 1000rr, more commonly known as Slowpokes USA flag painted bike.

The last 2 weeks saw me putting in the starter gears and motor, I'm too lazy for bump starting, that turned into a mad panic because it wouldn't start once I'd fitted everything, turned over fine but no spark, thought I'd fried something when I accidentally arc'd the batt, turned out to be old spark plugs. Another panic when I found they were HRC items at $250 each Luckily my local shop gives me very good discounts and all we were all go.

Arrived at Manfeild around 9 and was only 1 of a handfull of bikes

Got set up and talked some bullshit with the lads, let the warmers do their job fo a while and headed out for the maiden jaunt.
It was like being back on my old 06, it really felt very much the same, after seeing the dyno figures I was expecting it to feel a bit more lairy, but turned out to be a big pussycat.

I'd fitted soft new Racetec's ( K0 front , K1 rear ) and they were outperforming me, virtually no sliding, great feedback and drive, I just couldn't get my head into proper racemode to get on the gas soon enough.

Being nearly 4 months since last on track I found myself target fixating instead of looking for the next apex, that combined with the truely awful EBC front pads had me a little off my game. Having to pull the brakes on soo hard had my arm pumping quite badly, even having been doing a shitload of press ups and forearm workouts than I'd ever done while racing didn't help.

I ended up doing fairly consistant 1.11's, which truth be told I'm a bit dissapointed in, half a sec off my PB with more HP this time. But with some proper front brakes and shorter break between rides I think there's some very easy time to be lost.

So not too bad a day was had..............could've been a bit faster, but no sense in pushing too hard 1st time out and binning it, bring on the 19th Dec!!

Was great to see ya caning it out there mate. You can either upgrade the brake pads or just adhere to my patented wanking regime to strengthen that right forearm. If you're interested I can send you a wanking schedule with goals and times included to give you something to aim for?

Cut yourself some slack Tony. You cant expect to come back onto the track after 4 months off and be up at the same pase you were at when in your prime.
Your 4 months older for christ sake!

Glad to hear your back out there either way

Well done dude, that bike is quick, and for a so called unfit old bugger you did bloody well. Was very helpful following you (very briefly) to see your lines and giving me a hurry along. Shame about Dave taking-out the wildlife I recon the duck was going quicker so killing it would keep it a secret
Wouldn't be racing if it wasn't for:MotoMart, Pirelli, EBC Brakes, Ripecoffee.co.nz, Slotmedia.co.nz, Totalbodyshop.co.nz and Wurth

    Ohh hahaaaaa!!!!!!!..............you're a nasty buggar aren't ya

He did feel really bad..................but as a stroke of luck, while we were seeing how the sidecar guys were the bloody ducklings went wandering down pitlane, we managed to grab all 5 of them and get them to the SPCA

Think that made Dodgey feel a bit better.
