Been here 2 years now and I still don't quite get it, some celebrate it and some protest against the deals that were struck on the first 'W' day. Some of the Maoris have a great big party and others wanna tear down the big house

I think that about covers the history of the event in detail As a general observation by a newcomer like yourself, apart from a bit of flag waving, fist waving ect, every one else seems to have a BBQ and some cold!!!Beer, on the beach or on the section.

Celebrate the union between Maori and Europeans (Kiwi) so cook up a hangi for everyone yeah even the albino's. Comes to remind me out of all the multicultural countires experienceing racisim ie blacks-whites, mexicans-blacks etc boers and southafricans I think new zealand had it the easiest. We never really had much bad racisim all Maori have breeded with europeans and got along at some point usually scottish, irish, UK blood explaining why there is no Full Maori in nz. (Im only like a quarter cast Maori but I act like one)
