    RG150 kick start comes off

Hi guys, I seem to have a rather annoying problem with my RG150.

Recently I found that my kick starter would come flying off after a few kicks, I am able to put it back on fine (once I find the little beads that hold it in place), but it doesn't stay on for long and eventually it will come flying off if I try and start the bike. This makes it quite impractical to ride.

I am not a very mechanical person, but I cannot find any logical way to tighten it up.

Has anyone had any similar problems who could possibly help me out? thanks heaps

Not havnig seen an RG kicker, but I assume you mean that it isn't falling off the splines that go into engine, but the vertical section that it pivots on (hence the reference to the ball bearing detent. It should be held on with a washer & circlip in the groove at the top. an engineering place or a garage should be able to match one up

There should be a bolt what holds it on.

That would be it it is falling off the spline, but that bolt hole is quite obvious.

Yeah had exactly that problem on both the RG and my RGV250. It's a bastard trying to find those little ball bearings ay...

Anyway after much hassle trying to get the circlip to stay on, eventually I had a hole drilled into it, put on a couple of washers then put some loctite on a bolt that went over them. Never fell off again.

Just find someone who's experienced with a lathe, and get some loctite. It's a problem well worth fixing. Unless you like push starting it ALL THE TIME.
