Single dad with 3 small boys still at home, student loan, Kiwi Saver payments, car and old 1000cc bike on the road and a little under the magic figure.

'fraid not. I used to be there. I earnt a lot more than 80K in advertising, but gave it all up to work in a job which actually gives me a life (a bit like jrandom).

I earn 60K now, but I'm much richer in life's experiences.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Median (yeah I know I said average) is $538/week. $27,976/year.

EDIT: Just checked Stats, average across all ages and incomes is $680, so your $35k is right.

Why bother? Just stick a bottle jack under their arse and say "See - they're supported now let me ride my bike"
