    Feeler for Wgtn ride today?

Anyone thinking of going out today? Say over the hill, coffee at Settlers (the NEW fish, for the time being anyway). Maybe out to Lake Ferry, Castle Point or even just the usual back roads to Masterton? Weather is supposed to be good today, and it's white whispy clouds with lots of blue patches and sun here in Lower Hutt.

If not, I'm going out skid practicing

Hmm, I will actually but I'll leave you at Raumati and catch up on your way back. How long do you think you'll be from Raumati to Waikanae and back to Raumati?

Scratch that actually, there's no point to my going to Raumati anyway, and I just remembered this involves SH1

Can you meet up somewhere after you've picked up the item and gone home again? Best make hay while the sun shines, or somthing like that

I just cleaned my bike. I gave up any thought of a ride when I got my tongue frozen to the tank.

WTF is Settlers? Mrs H and I went over the hill today to discover that not only is The Fish closed for winter (nothing extraordinary there), but it's also for sale! What heinous act is that? What are we to do? Where shall we go? Oh woe!

For someone so learned, you don't know very much
Settlers is the pub on the left hand side of the road, just as you exit the roundabout / square as if to go home towards featherston.

I actually bestowed my patron upon The Village Cafe, on the left as you come into Martinborough. Rather nice inside, and GREAT food, better than The Fish and Settlers. Had the roast pumpkin and red pepper soup with home made bread - YUM!

I thought it was common knowledge that the Fish was closed, and for sale? In heinsight, you could see that was happening

So, for a quick coffee and pub food, Settlers is pretty cool. For a wide range of great food, pop in to The Village Cafe. They have outside and inside seating.

What you doing to it? If I had read this before leaving, I would have asked to come watch, and brought my A100 to display my cunning stunts, to the utter awe of your neighbours

I still haven't sent my Vic Club application off! Then when I get my card, I have to send the MNZ application off and wait again. I don't think I'll be at the next meeting

Want me to e-mail you the two forms?

OK, I wasn't 'working' I was 'playing', stripping it down the the bare 'required' parts, and redoing the wiring to just three wires and one switch. You would have been welcome - if only for entertainment.

I need to talk with somebody as to what constitutes a kill switch - and if one is required and other things. Couldn't get any sense out of the bucket guys I know yesterday - they were all too pissed at Spyda's party.

Yeah, flick me a copy of the forms.

"Heinsight"? For that you shall buy me a coffee at The Village Cafe (is that the one with the wine store, next to the ANZ Bank?), Mr "Common Knowledge" indeed...

I like the smell of carnuba wax. I wondered if it tasted as good as it smells, but apparently you can't taste anything with a frozen tongue.

I understand that the "for sale" @ the Fish is only for the land and buildings, but that is what I was told, not what I know for a fact.

Hitcher, that is indeed the Village Cafe.

SC, is "Settlers" the bar in the M/Borough Hotel, on the corner?

We were over in the Rapa yesterday, left around 9.30am and had a very leisurely brunch @ Wild Oats in Carterton. Left there around 1pm, through Ponatahi to M/Borough for gas, then to the top of the hill. Bit chilly there, didn't stay long. There were quite a lot of bikes on the road. It was drier riding over the hill than I had thought it would be, still quite damp but not too bad. It dried out over the other side, it wasn't too bad at all.

Hope your ride to Lake Ferry was okay after we saw you SC.

I didn't go to Lake Ferry in the end, just lunch at The Village Cafe.
Settlers is the first pub on the left as you exit the square, heading back out to Featherston. (Or to visualise better, the last pub on the right, just before you enter the square, coming from Featherston). I don't know if it's a hotel too, I guess you could sleep outside if you wanted?

Yeah, I had heard that the Fish was still going to open, but I have no factual knowledge either. I've also heard octuple hand that the Summit Cafe on the top of the Taka's is opening again soon, under new management.
