Malaysian police provide locks to prevent motorcycle thefts

Penang police are to install 180 wheel-locking devices to cut down on the number of motorcycle thefts.

Jawi assemblyman Tan Cheng Liang said the wheel-locks, which are to be trialled in a low-rent area with a history of thefts, were designed by Penang police chief DCP Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee.

“We will make use of his creative innovation to prevent motorcycle thefts here,” Tan said. “If the devices prove to be effective in preventing theft, they can also be installed in other areas,” she added.

DCP Wan reminded the public to report crimes. “A police report is very important as it will help determine whether an area is crime-prone or otherwise,” he said. “This will help police decide whether more personnel should be deployed to the area. And complain directly to me if any of my officers refuse to accept a report,”” he added.

Nice to see someone taking the issue of bike theft seriously.

That is where I am from! The amount of motorbikes on the road there outnumbers the amount of cars! They all ride 125cc 4 speed single cyclinder bikes!

But good on them for reducing motorbike theft!

Will have to take some photos and show you guys how CHAOTIC riding a bike there is.
