    Anyone for mead?

I haven't yet but I'd like to have a crack at making some (purely for medicinal purposes of course).

Any of you been there before?
Prepared to give me the benefit of your experience?
    Share a favorite recipe perhaps?

I have a friend who makes mead and he says it's really easy. There are heaps of mead (and metheglyn, and melomel etc) recipes on the web. Try The Joy of Mead or google around. Maybe ask at your local brew shop?

I'm more a wine and beer brewer myself, but the mead does look pretty straightforward. Will have to find some cheap raw honey and give it a go.

I've made mead before. Tastes nasty. It really needs to be aged for a at least 1 year before it becomes good enough to drink. It really does give nasty hangovers.

Pity you live so far away. I'd definitely be into sharing a batch. Mead is by far my favourite drop and the results of indulging liberally only seem fit for posting in l.o.a.

I bought some once. Did not like it.

Maybe I should have used a wooden mug. That's the traditional ware for mead or so I am told.
