Noob question about the side stand

I have just realised today, that when I park the bike and use the kick stand/ side stand ( of course) , it seems to slip a few cm's ~ inch on the ground on contact (maybe due to the weight put against it) after I get off the bike ? Is this normal? I have not realised this since I started riding but somehow just occured to me today.

Such a noob I am if this is meant to be normal, haven't ridden for ages and when I finally get back on today, everything seems alien.

    I'd appreciate any comments, ta.

sit there and look at your bike.
    how does the suspension work?
notice the wheels turn ever so slightly when you get off it?
the bike lifts a few mm from the release of your weight,
the side stand moves becuse it is lifted up.
    Yes it is normal.
Always check with your boot, that your side stand is locked and bike balanced.
You will not be the first to have a driveway drop from not checking your stand
if you dont make this a habbit.
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.

If you are ever unfortunate enough to have to park on a slight downward slope pop the bike in first gear and roll it forward a tad until it locks up - then drop the stand. This is the equivalent of a motorcycle handbrake.

Just remember it is in gear when you start it!

When you get off, pull the bike back until it won't go back any/much more to make sure the side stand is working properly. Depends on the surface but generally it helps.
