If someone brings the sun we will bring the BBQ.
This will be the third time we have dragged the BBQ out to Puke and we are determined to use it this time!

I can confirm we have Steve Briggs (A KTM sponsored rider) as our guest instructor this time. He will be on board one of KTM's RC8 race bikes. Remember his brains are their for the picking.

Info for those of you who have Auckland City Council and Cycletreads ART vouchers.

Please make sure you have contacted Colleen Thompson at CThompson@paraserv.co.nz or 027 423 1433
    and booked you slot.

You cant just turn up on the day and hope there to be spaces. As always this training is (of last week) nearly completely booked out and the last week is a mad scramble for any spaces left.

    See you all there.

I have a question Graham. Since ART is about improving ones riding, why do we stop it due to rain ? Obviously one needs to be more cautios and smooth etc, but why not tell people about issues such as surface water then let those with sufficient groves on tyres to get out and practice ? After all we have groves in our tyres for that exact reason, and I personally dont have a problem riding on a soaking track.

    Thank you.

    Its simply a saftey issue.
Pukekohe has a suface water problem in a few areas, unfortunatly these areas are either where there is limited run off (ford mountain T7) or at a very quick corner (Jennian Homes T1). Deep puddles at Jennian and in the case of T7 a small river of water running accross the track. The session is only stopped if these puddles or the stream of water becomes an issue, usually after a very heavy down poor. Normal wet conditions we would not halt the event.
Experience has shown us that once these have formed it takes avery long time for it to drain away or dry up. Even race events get pulled on Puke when this level of water is present and thats with experienced guys with full wets there.

Your right, there is alot to be learnt riding a bike in wet conditions. Its just a case of ensuring the conditions aren't too wet to become dangerous.
