Suzuki Track Day Manfeild 28th November

Well I went to my 1st ever Suzuki Track Day on Saturday and I must say that it sure was a Great Day.
Got to the Track at around 7.50am with the weather looking better than what they predicted.
Signed on at 8.00 and then waited for the Riders Briefing to begin around 8.40.
1st up was the Fast Group followed by the Medium and then the Novice Group with all sessions being 15 minutes long.
Got into my riding gear, jumped onto the Streetstock RG 150 and out I went.
Managed to get all of my 15 minutes of Track time in when on the final lap heading back to the Pits the RG decided to give up the ghost, leaving me to park it just coming into the esses.
Once I was off it I looked down at the motor hoping not to see oil everywhere as I thought I might have blown the engine, but no sign of oil was to be seen. What a relief that was.
Once the bike and myself got back to the pits my Partner Rusty checked the bike over and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

After giving it about 6 kicks it finally started so off I went for my 2nd session out onto the track.
Rusty told me just to do 2 laps then come in so he could have a quick check of it and then I could go back out there to finish my remaining time which didn't happen as I only managed to get half a lap in when it gave up the ghost for the 2nd time.
This time I finally realised what was wrong, The fuel was low in the tank and I couldn't turn the fuel tap onto reserve, as it wouldn't turn.
So for the 2nd time I was brought back into the pits by 1 of the organisers feeling by this time a wee bit embarrased.
Said to myself if it happens for the 3rd time I'm on my way home, but luckily for me it didn't happen.

Lunch time arrived and so did the rain. Alot of Riders decided to pack up and head for home, but Rusty told me that I should go out there and learn to ride in the rain so I did.

I'm sure glad I did as it built up my confidence about wet weather riding and from now on, I know in myself that it wont be a problem for me riding in the rain in the future. Just got to remember to keep relaxed and when applying the brakes that I don't get on to them too hard.

Thanks to Suzuki and all the volunteers for putting on an enjoyable day even if the weather decided to turn against us in the afternoon.

I look forward to the next 1.

it to was my first track day and i can't wait for the next one. a big thanks to all the people you made it happen and at such a low cost i was expecting a lot more people on the track.

i learnt so much in the 3 sessons that we got in before it started raining.

next time make Rusty fill the tank up.

good on you, you have found the big secret about riding in the rain, most people struggle in the rain because they let there minds think there gonna crash hence they dont relax. you cant feel anything if your not relaxed.
I'm off to the pub, I may be sometime.

    Yeah, good on ya Skep.
It is really important to ride in the rain but many riders overlook it and then get scared when the rain does come down.

I was concentrating that much on my lines into each corner that the rain wasn't my main focus so therefore it never became an issue while I was out there. It sure is a Great feeling knowing that the tyres on the bike, Bridgestone Battlax BT 39 RSS are excellent in the rain.

So you managed to sleep in compared to your normal track attendance report in times , good for you.

Isnt it funny that YOU realised what was wrong , give that Rusty old bloke the sack and get a decent mechanic .
