Bike problems!

Hey guys,

I just got my licence and my first bike - an FZR250, it's an awesome bike to ride but I'm constantly having problems with it stalling and then not starting again very easily.

Usually after it stalls the only way I can start it again is by hitting the start button and fully opening the throttle just to get it to idle - usually I have to hold it open for a few minutes then it will start to rev again.
The bike tends to go fine after that if it's on the flat or going down-hill but if it has to go up it will generally rev fine but when I release the clutch and start going up the hill it loses power and stalls again.

The bike doesn't have a fuel pump but gravity feeds, so I'm wondering if that might be the cause of part of the problem but I'm also thinking that maybe the EXUP valve isn't functioning properly.

If anyone could tell me what's wrong and what I could do to fix it I'd really appreciate the help, cheers.

Sounds like its flooding,can you smell fuel?Take the carb of and check out float etc,probably sticking.

It doesn't sound like an awesome bike to from what you desribe. It sounds like a problem with the choke still being on slightly?

You need to check your carb jets are clean.
Your spark plug gap is correct
Your contact breaker points have the right gap.

Once you have checked those basics, let us know what is then going on.

Sure sounds fuel related.
Could be a number of reasons. Either too much or not enough fuel.
One thing to check is that the tank is venting properly. Under increased throttle, you use more fuel...and if you have a vacuum forming in the tank, this is when it'll show up.
Is there a filter in the line? Replace it.

OK so FZR's should have fuel pumps.
If the engine is warm you'll need to open the throttle atleast 1/3 open to start but not full open.
maybe check you Idle Air Screws.
Resistors in leads may need a clean and Coil spade terminals too.
Spark plugs looking at wont hurt. no 3 (from left) collects water if out in rain, lean bike to right to drain.

or save yourself a headache and take to the shop.
