Summer jacket - recommendations?

so, can anyone recommend me a jacket thats gonna be good for summer?

my current cordura (spool) one has been great for winter but even with the thermal liner removed it doesnt breath - any kind of warmth out and it gets pretty uncomfortable. also its a little big even with the liner IN, so without im not sure the armor is gonna be sitting where its meant to.

budget around $500, (happy to spend less! hah) open to ideas, experience appreciated - even if its only a few things i should look for at the shop

In the meantime until you find something, put jacket on, put gloves on, do up gloves, leave sleeves open over gloves. This funnels scads of air up your sleeves and inflates your jacket with a high-pressure jet. Much much cooler.

I'm in the same bucket, I have a Dri-Rider RACER-X jacket but I have never been keen on having RACER-X on my jacket, because I feel like a right wank. It's cool-ish but not as cool as it should be, I do the ol' air up the sleeves trick but it's rarely enough to satisfy my need for coooolness.

I always have rain gear in the topbox so I don't care about waterproof, I just want something that protects good and is as cool as it can get. (I was under the impression leather would be rather hot in comparison to textile?)

just bought a R-jays mesh jacket for this reason, take the wind/rain liner out and the wind passes strieght through! shift also make a mesh jacket

they wont be as good as leather, but it has good armour and will do for lower speed stuff better than a tshirt anyway

went and talked to the guy at red barons today, he said he wears an ixon jacket (forgotten the name now) which has two liners - one waterproof and one warm, which can both be zipped in and out independently - so its good year round. the chest and half sleeves are meshed so it has good airflow, but the spots most likely to touch the ground are 'full' jacket. looking like a front runner at the moment, $450

I have found my shift to be bloody great, removable liner as well.
Breaths all up your arms, side of you boobs,underarms, shouldler tops have vents that channel air down your back etc.

Best summer jacket I have ever had!

I dont know this Jacket personally but one thing I will say is a leather jacket with the internal linings for waterproofness is that the leather would still get wet, this can make it very cold.

Best way is to have a water proof jacket over top of your leather, I wear an over suit.

If DriRider is still making them, they have the climate control jacket.

Normally when I wear it for the first time each summer it feels like I'm riding topless, little scary, but certainly keeps you cool. Not sure how it would stand up to damage tho, haven't tried, don't plan to, etc. Would imagine it protects you less than leather obviously.

I've got a Qmoto summer jacket. A Viper, if my memory serves me correctly. It's fantastic. I reckon it's better made than a lot of "name" jackets. And you can't argue with the price or service.
