Genuine call for assistance - Riding into Wellington morning peak hour

Okay read this which ever way you want, but Tuesday morning 8 December, I need to be in Wellington city by 8am. My new Ninja 250R will be having its initial 1,000km service.

As most of you know I am retired, I mainly ride over to the Wairarapa, and can count on one hand the number of times I have ridden into Wellington at morning peak hour over the last three and a half years.

EDIT UPDATE - See Calendar http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/ca...day=2009-12-8&

While I could probably manage the ride in by myself, a bit of company would be welcome to watch my back. Thanks for the offers of assistance.

I plan on having breakfast at McDonalds, High Street Lower Hutt around 7am and leaving by 7.20am, going to find my way down the High Street across Ewen Bridge down Hutt Road and join the motorway at Petone.

Thanks Huff3r. Hopefully there won't be any bunnies on the road like Whitemans Valley last week.

I could come over haywards and ride shotgun for you BuckBuck. I just don't think you would be happy at the warp speeds I split at in rush hour. I go at least 3k faster than the traffic and only if they are travelling at no more than 5k. However, not having travelled the SH2 route in peak, I don't know what it's like.
Why do you need to go in rush hour. Surely leaving it until around 9.00am when all of the gumbits are already gone would be a better option.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Coming in on the Hutt Motorway is a little different from out this way ... traffic is way heavier ... and I know that Sweetp used to split from Upper Hutt, whereas we only need to from Tawa ...

Another option Buckbuck is to leave home and go straight into town rather than piss around in the Hutt ... and have breakfast at one of the many establishments there.

Hey BB, I am at work by 6.30-6.45am and the traffic is pretty moderate at that time. I know it seems very early but I would be happy for you to come in with me that day and I can even have brekky with you at one of the many cafes around Waring Taylor St. I live in Alicetown and if you could meet me there I will wait until 6.30 for you...

Hey Hawkeye, Nasty, Trudes, and Str8 Jacket, I think breakfast in town would be a good idea. KB calendar updated.

I've arranged to have the bike at the shop when it opens at 8am. I said seeing as I live out in the Hutt Valley I am prepared to wait in town if they could get the bike done early. Don't particularly feel like catching bus/train/bus home and back, so for a few hours I can fill in, Freyberg pool for a swim probably.

Thanks Str8 Jacket, breakfast in town around 7am it is then....(Alicetown at 6.30am - TSS perhaps or PM meet point)

I literally live around the corner from TSS so I will meet you at the back of the shop on Victoria St. It takes me 15 mins from my door to work so we'll be there by 7 easily!

No probs. Just make sure that you are not late cause I won't be waiting past 6.31am. Not being a bitch just don't like to be late in the mornings as it tends to disrupt my whole day!

If colours, navy flag cerermony, were one minute late being raised in the morning, it more than disrupted my day - I know what you mean.

Dang, getting 'confubbled' using the keyboard here, I obviously incorrectly edited Nasty and Hawkeye's earlier posts and attributed Nasty's comments to Hawkeye...dang double dang...(quotes now removed)...Suggestions immediately taken up to have breakfast in town.
