    gsxr 250 rr carb problems

I'm still unable to figure out why my mixture is lean as. My engine is hard to start and if I open the throttle wide open the revs stay put for a while. If I tape the intakes of the carb so only a quarter is exposed it runs nicely but is extremely gutless - not suprising breathing through a hole that small. I've ripped the carbs to bits blown it out and got everything so clean that you could eat off it. I set the needle as rich as it goes and wound the idle screws out a bit. My only thought is that the carb could be getting air from elsewhere. The rubbers joining it to the manifold are a little stretched but seem ok.

    Anyone else got any ideas.

Cant remember your previous posts..but Im guessing youve already checked float levels and making sure the bowls are actually filling up??
And youve tried running the fuel tap on primary?

Maybe buy some panadol for the headache this bikes causing you and dare I say it take it to a bike shop

    Got it sussed

Yeah I finally sussed out my bike. Feeling pretty silly about how simple it was. I had assumed that the left coil runs the left 2 cylinders the right runs the right 2. Well the left runs 1 and 4 the right 2 and 3 (logical now I think about it). No wonder it seemed like it was running lean. Wasn't till it backfired - and blew the carby off that I thought that something wasn't right there. Funny how something so simple eludes you. So stoked - I hope tomorrows sunny.

IIRC, one way for testing for air leaks is to have the bike idling, and spray CRC around the rubbers, and see if the idle increases.

Don't feel to bad...when I was having problems with my GSXr carbs I got my old man to have a look. We took the carbs off and gave them a good clean out then put the bike back together.
Went to start the bike, and it wouldn't fire at all...it was turning over ok, just not firing.
So we took it all apart again, checked a heap of things, put it back together and tried again...nothing!
Then I checked the kill switch
