I'm looking forward to contributing to the maelstrom (I had to look up the meaning of 'maelstrom' to make sure that my usage was correct. - maelstrom noun, especially literary- A place or state of uncontrollable confusion or destructive forces, especially one to which someone or something is inevitably drawn).
Apart from the destructive forces bit, it sounds like a vaguely apt descrption.
