    BMW coming to MotoGP....

It appears that BMW is looking for seeking mechanics and other personnel for a 2003 MotoGP team. That's the word from some MotoGP team personnel. Since a three-cylinder, 990cc machine could be based closely on three cylinders from a BMW Formula 1 V-10 engine, an in-line three-cylinder is the logical lay-out for a BMW MotoGP engine. 250 horsepower from that three cylinder engine is easily achievable, given the application of engine technology similar to that found in BMW's F1 engine.

    Interesting if it happens?

I presume '2003' in your post is a typo, which year is it that they're targeting?

And I wonder who they'd get to ride it. Perhaps after they've hung around midfield and sucked for a couple of years, Rossi will get bored at Yamaha and go win a few seasons on a Beemer.

Rumours like this have been floating around for years

Would be interesting and very cool if it happened though.

BMW used to race superchargers in the 30's that apparently were so powerful (In their day) the FIM banned them from competing. Rumours a modern supercharged BMW is coming have been floating around for a while as well.

Any three cylinders in particular? On this logic you could base a three-cylinder, 990cc machine on three cylinders from an Austin Allegro...

I have a several contacts within the race teams and IRTA/Dorna.
If BMW are going to race they're keeping it very secret and it won't be 'till 2006 at the earliest.

The Allegro was a british entry, It really was a interesting design utilizing the latest tech ( at the time ) and the very best of Leylands design engineers , They tied to adapt the tech for the battle of the twins, but at the time the frame tech couldnt cope with the stresses imposed by the motor .

Doesnt Allegro mean light and quickly moving music .....
