    Been a long week.

Well I guess most of you might of worked it out by now.
My dauther was married last week.
It was a high point in my life with out a Doubt,BUT the one thing that made it not so hot,I lost my little mate the day before we flew out to OZ.
I've worked with dogs most of my life.
Every one that passes leaves a certain remorse,a sence of lose.
This guy was different,he left a hole that won't ever be filled.
He was my little mate, when I was flat on my back in pain wondering if I'd walk again he stayed by my side, while I stagered all over the beach learning how to walk again he tripped me up an jumped all over me in the joy of just being out there togeather. He waited at the front gate for me every day, sometimes for days.
We walked the west coast beaches and the Urewera, the Kiamanawa and Pureora. He slept at the foot of my sleeping bag and let me know when we weren't alone.
He was a best mate as only a good dog can ever be to somebody like me.
Now he's gone, run down by a thoughtless person in his own driveway.
He was more than just a dog,he was my little mate.
    RIP Dougal boy.

It's a bugger the way small furry animals dig a hole in your heart. Damn them!

That's a really good idea...... and in a way that tree will take his place and provide a great sense of continuity ....... if that makes sense to you.....

    Sorry to hear that Jackrat.

Just remember all the good time you got to spend with him.

Congrats on the daughter's marriage too.

Mate, the longer you know them the more you love them, always seemed just when you were the closest and could share your heart they had to leave. I feel for you.
