You're making an assumption there; it could simply be that I know about the history of music and some of the more eccentric performers of yesteryear.

I have always loved the ukelele. "My dog had fleas" was first step in learning to pitch an A (I was going to say A440, but then my ear isn't probably quite that accurate) without running to a piano.

I'm not sure I have any business looking at ukulele videos, it feels a bit like having a small secret photo of Cliff Richard in my wallet That said, it left me with a great big stupid smile on my face to start the day with so thanks for the link and good luck with your plucking.

Four people is more than enough for a quartet. We just need three more in Wellington...

The Septuagenarian Ukelele Clanging and Kicking Society.

    Or S.U.C.K.S for short.

Oh no, that's 70, not seven, my bad.

I guess that's marginally better than the Capital Ukulele Nocturnal Twanging Society.

Just to revive this ancient thread,...

I have just upgrade my el cheapo Ukulele with an Aquila'd strung Kala. Boy, what a difference, even for my newbie status.
Been playing the Uke for approximately 3 months now and absolutely love it to bits.
Quite a change from the drumming.

I thank Hitcher wholeheartedly for getting me into this and helping me out.

I too ma in Auckland, have my trusted Flying V Uke and am keen to hook up with others and knock out some toons.

I bought my mini Max his first uke at the recent NZ Uke festival and he loves it.

So, may I be bold enough to say we have the makings of an Auckland chapter of KB Uke's

I'm in like le chien de la robber

Do not let the weather get to your Ukulele! I left mine on the deck last night while I popped next door to help the widow polish her brass & I returned to find my instrument warped due to high humidity. It's more like a Balalika now.

My uke's biggest threat to impending danger is my 10 month old son ......
