if that is the case, then i have no sympathy for the rider.I see so much of that stupid shit by bikers and i am not surprised that the numbers run out of lucky ones from time to time.

im off to Akaroa this afternoon and im taking the car.

Why?because its safer, and i dont have to expose myself and my passenger to stupid idiots ,(at least i have airbags and a steel cage on my side)and also because i dont enjoy riding as an exercise in urban warfare,as so many riders these days seem to do.

by all means ride fast, but do it safely.that includes not overtaking unless you have full visibility thru out the whole manoeuver.

keep racing moves for the racetrack.

Well there is no sympathy from me either. By and large you make your own luck in life.

There are too many motorcyclists that ride around like idiots.

I know and I don't disagree with either of you, it just seemed humorous that he said it like "oh shit, did he just deny that guy sympathy? Yea, maybe we should put Marcel on suicide watch from now on"...

It doesn't read well that this was the 2nd time in 6 months she had practised her first-aid on a motorcyclist at the side of the road.

Nothing particular about motorcycles in regards to that. In every area of life there are idiots.

Or maybe if we stop automatically giving sympathy just because he/she is a "fellow motorcyclist"... more riders may take more responsibility for their own safety rather than riding around thinking their shit doesn't stink.

Motorcyclists are just as stupid as every other road user out there. We aren't special.

Quite right, though doing stupid things isn't the sole domain of motorcyclists and somehow I don't think the result for him would have been a whole lot better had he done the same stupid thing in a car, and probably a whole lot worse for the other vehicles involved. I have in the last 24 hrs seen a couple of instances of cars passing cars that made me shudder at the stupidity.

Did you note that her father has been in a comma for quite some time as a result of a motorcycle acident?

Thanks for the lecture, but what does that have to do with what I was saying?
