Do you really believe that? Seriously? That if we didn't offer sympathy idiots would stop acting like, say, idiots?

If we really want to curtail the number of accidents then I suggest we immediately make helmets, gloves, leathers etc illegal. Riders won't feel invincible wearing only a cotton shirt and jeans so will slow down. Those that won't will be killed off, lowering the costs to acc and making the roads safer for all other users, and mothers will not let their children ride a bike at all. Problem solved.

I bet if he had done this in a car... and in particular a lowered piece of shit boyracer's car (and the outcome for everybody was the same)... that most here reading the article would have thought... 'good, deserves the wanker right'.

I don't view other motorcyclists as anything different or special just because they are riding a bike. When people in here are critical of the poor standards and attitudes of drivers on NZ roads... then that also equally includes motorcyclists.

Yes, just like how giving less sympathy to drunk drivers getting caught and having accidents is making the behaviour less socially acceptable than what it was a generation before.

Yes, less socially acceptable. But guess what? Drink drivers are still drink driving. So therefore it doesn't work. Idiots will still act like idiots despite what the general public tut tut about.

You better go in here and tell T.G.W she is wasting her time then...

However others may be encouraged that fewer and fewer people may be getting behind the wheel drunk, rather than every man and his dog doing it and thinking it a was normal "kiwi" thing to do.

That's strange. My grandfather enjoyed a good drink but never drove after drinking, and far as I recall he was a good kiwi bloke.

Don't twist my words. Of course we should campaigne for anti-drink driving, dangerous driving etc. But don't expect it to have a 100% success rate.

I'd be happy to just see an improvement and a widespread desire to continue seeking improvement.

This is an honest question: What are you always trying to improve on when you "cry" as everyone puts it?

No1 son has just got back from China.

    He told me the following

If you get done for drink-driving over there? - straight to jail for 15 days, no trial.

And you can tell your family via a letter.

He said that had really changed the drink driving atitude since his last visit.

He noticed more cars - less drink-driving.

Of course it was a stupid thing to say. I just wanted to see if you could identify a ridiculous statement. Because sometimes after reading some of your posts I was starting to believe you couldn't
