Starship Hospital staff (in particular Stephen Streat) saved my niece. When I saw her, so grey and motionless, I thought she'd already gone. During the flight from Palmerston North Hospital to Starship they simply poured units of blood through her, many of which ended up all over my sister, her mother. When the stretcher was tipped up blood went all over my sister.

I'll never forget that night.

I have another niece who is spinabifida, wheelchair bound, and the Starship staff have done amazing things with her also.

If there's a place where miracles can happen it has to be the aptly named Starship.

Whatever those very special people earn, they deserve more.
