    xr-riders tri series rd1

this was my first time on the track on the 400 and i was a bit nervous about it at the start of the day.
    qualifying
my main aim was to get used to the bike and find any little problems. the bike kept bogging out of the corners and i tried ignoring it. i ended coming in a few laps before the session finished because of the bogging.
my best lap was a very slow 1.38.792 which was 5 seconds slower than my best time on my ss150. this put me 27th on the grid

    race 1
got a rubbish start. the bike bogged off the line. i got a couple of positions back by turn 1. the bike was still bogging out of corners so i just ignored it.
i finished 22nd with a best lap of 1.31.867 which was a new pb for me.

    race 2
got another rubbish start but not as bad as the first. it was still bogging a bit and was slightly more bareable this time.
    i finished 18th with a best lap of 1.30.284

    race 3
got an alright start and had moved up a few positions by turn 1 only to lose them back by the hairpin.
    i finished 17th with a best lap of 1.29.790.

so i came away with a new pb and i learnt the bike.
a big thank you to wharfy for letting me pit in with him and everyone that has given me advice about riding bike.

    Well done xr-rider.
If the bikes got a problem with "bogging" get it sorted........... if you ignore it and ride around it you will develop bad habits because of it. Need to to concentrate on improving yourself not working around bike issues.
Good luck for the other rounds............ have a good holiday season.

Was great to see you out there on the new bike young fulla. Definitely give RROF's suggestion about the fuel a go mate. There isn't anything he doesn't know about that bike.

i believe the old original builder of that bike has mentioned that you should talk to him if you need any tips on the bike. Aparantly the air filter has been removed, it which WILL make it carb differently to what it was originally running.

Put it back to how it was as it was tuned in a dyno, don't change any settings unless your on the dyno. its just not worth the hassel.

hope you do have fun on the machine its capable of 20's easy if not more - posties and F3 are great classes to get into and everyone is real supportive.

Ring me Jeff , i am not enjoying hearing your not getting the besat out of the bike , i know what i can do as does Nicki etc, it can be like that for you as well if you use the resourses i have offered , i know that bike inside out and i know whats wrong with the way its running just from what you are describing . I can and will get you going on it if you just stop asking people that dont know the secrets of the bike. again , ring me man , please.

Why turn down help from someone who has owned the bike for the past 12 yrs when all he wants to do is give you the help you need which would leave you problem free with the running off it.
Sounds like common sense to me, so do what he saids Jeff and contact him, Choice is yours on whether or not you want that bike running to how it should.

Awesome to see you stepping up to the 400 man! However, RROF is a legend mate and what he doesn't know about bikes probably aint worth knowing. Also he knows that bike inside and out, it will cost you alot less $$ and stress to just get hold of him and get his help!

Thats good to hear Jeff as there are so many of us out there who are more than happy to help but Paul is the Man to talk to who can answer any questions you have regarding the CBR seeing that it was his originally.

Okay Artillery Lance Corporal, did Paul get it sorted for you??

I really dowant to see you running closer to the front too Jeff.
I am a Honda man at heart.... And would love nothing more than to see you into the low 20's soon, if not better!
Heck, we can get an 89 ZXR into the 15's!
No pressure though, develop yourself at your own pace.....

Oh, and from my days on the CBR400 (Areo I had), at Manfeild, never let the needle fall below 10000RPM.
Revs and Corner speed is where it is at....

I understand you don't have a rev counter?? Might pay to source one actually. Wouldn't rely on the rev limiter all the time myself.
