Perhaps because they actually have systems in place to record and report these matters.

True re statistics, reporting of and language.

But look into the peaceful well adjusted eyes of your average chinese kid compared to the average Kiwi one.....

One gets veg soups, mum and dad no booze or coffee, the other has chips and coke and watches violent media and games

I challenge that our successive governments have let down those at the bottom of the food chain, by keeping them dumbed down with violence on TV, and promotion of unhealthy lifestyles...

Aww come on... Children need a good beating as part of their upbringing.

It's a big shame he can't use the defense of "reasonable force" this time.

If standards are good, double standards must be twice as good.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

If you're going to run on stereotypes, the average kiwi kid doesn't have to worry about being shot dead by his own soldiers for protesting, either... Or be killed in a riot of race, or starve to death, or die of disease because of poor healthcare...

You're on to something there with the diet issue at least. Sugar is a bad bad thing in the quantities we consume it.

Bloody hard to give up though.

Yet your "average chinese kid" will grow up in a society where extortion is so rife, it's just an accepted part of life. If you think gangs are a 'problem' in NZ culture, the Asian underworld will shock you. Don't even get me started on "no booze" - honestly, WTF, the 'chinese' are all teetotallers?? Got any more mythical stereotypes there? Why don't you just add they can't drive for shit?

In my day we'd be killed in a riot of race or shot dead by our own soldiers before breakfast. Then we'd happily go of to die of disease.Luxury!

Breakfast? We used to dream of breakfast...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Have you been overseas. I used to think this also. I had my eyes opened by both travel and my wife.

Yes I have. Never to China though, but I don't need to go there to tell you that the average NZ kid isn't going to get shot to death by NZ soldiers in the middle of his street, or killed in a riot, or die because of a shitty healthcare system, like isn't exactly unheard of in China, so romanticizing China by talking about how "simple" they are is kind of over simplistic. From what I have heard from mates that have been to China, the booze is so cheap there, and the people who sell it so corrupt, the youths aren't exactly "pure" in many places

Well, at least he won't do that again.

How about 'NZ is a great placed to bring up kids'...our youth serious road accident is by far the WORST... also teenage suicide, cancers, heart disease and bullying and common crime are very well represented here.

I still maintain that good parenting in NZ has been hijacked by the Tory fuckers dumb down

Yea, you're right. NZ is a shithole to raise kids, thats we most of us have so many fond childhood memories here...

It is a terrible tradegy that happens every day and has done for thousands of years. children have always been abused and now we can be thankful that society is not accepting this behaviour anymore. What is truely sad is the worst abusers will now become even more secretive. Last year a child in my daughters class was beaten to death because he left a sweatshirt at school, he took 4 days to die and his parents did not get help for him. They were too frightened as they would be prosecuted for hitting their son, so they let him die.

And here's some fella bashing his beautiful innocent eight year old daughter for swearing. FFS, bet he swears himself. This type of behaviour gets me riled!!!!
