Finally home from work (again). Boss told us to bugger off at 12, came home then phone rang about 3.30, back to work to fix something that's worked all year and picked today to start playing up.Beer time now.

Still working, the backpackers are wandering to & from the beach replenshing their beers, lots of enquiries as to wether I'm open tomorrow... Still being polite in response.
Checked my tyre pressures, filled the tank, can't be bothered adjusting the chain. Ready to head down to auks tomoz. Gonna leave my waterproofs behind coz I'm a chancer. Ooh er.
2 more hours before I here that "pisht" sound as I open a cold stubby.
Yep - I worked today!
What is the point of posting a Cristmas card to arrive on Christmas Eve?
If you got one today then it is from someone who forgot about you and feels guilty about receiving the one you sent.
Merry Christmas everyone.

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
What, you mean you people get time off?? Gee, some people have it real good eh??
The city doesn't stop getting messy just because it's a public holiday, so unfortunately... I still have to work tomorrow. And Saturday. And Sunday. Only doing about 4 or 5 hours though, so I'll be finished at about 10am.![]()
Motorcycling is like life - it's about the journey, not the destination.
...well I got to sell (xmas presents) bike gear to everyone all day yesterday....which is great
they're all heading out riding over the wknd...I'm not....which is shit
...but I do get to fit the 'boys' out in tight leathers & tell them to assume the position......so that's a good thing
anyways, have tomorrow (today) off.....sorting out the home office
working boxing day....some-one thought it would be good to have a boxing day sale
Have a safe & fun time riding over xmas everyone....think of the rest of us
.....but bet ya don't
Well! I'd hafta say, that is some ride. Nothing much straight or level in there and some of the most scenic country I have seen in a while. Not much traffic at all - apart from SH3 on the way back.
The section from Waikawau all the way round to Pio Pio is total magic - twisty, but not so tight or narrow that you can't see where you're going, so no real need to be overly cautious. Few stray stock on the road though, mostly back closer to Marakopa...oh and several metal dumps on the side of the road with loose metal spilled across the seal. Some of these are in long corners so need to be watched.
The early part of Mangatoa Road that is unsealed (12.3km) is not too bad although today there was metal spread all across it - no "dry" tracks to ride. Not too scary though. Quite a lot of cliff spillage across the road in several places as well but easily visible - only had two "step-outs" of the back wheel and both minor.
All up took me 5 hours, including about four stops along the way and getting lost once...(turned right to Taharoa instead of Marakopa...). Just made it on one tank of gas - warning light on solid for the last 20 km...
Can highly recommend this ride.
