Hi all, need a bit of advice,

After failing my restricted today after not having a warrent

(yes, stupid i know) i took the bike into the place to get the warrent. When i went to pick thus bike up they said it had a few problems which surprised me a LOT!

Apparantly (now bear with me i didnt quite catch wat the dude said) the front tyre wasnt beaded on properly. So i asked what does this mean to which he replied "basically not on properly" (so can anyone shine any light on this for the mechanically retarded?)

So i replied to this guy "does this mean for the past 6 months ive been riding around on a dangerous bike" short answer yes. BUT what really pisses me off is i had my last warrent with them and it flew through. Is this a problem that can occur over time or is it something they missed and i need to tell them that im pissed of they missed it etc etc?

Any help on this matter would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Basically it mean when the tyre was put on it wasnt inflated enough initially to pop it "onto the bead" which is the section of thhe rim it's designed to sit on. Shouldnt be too hard for a tyre shop to fix it for you, might even be able to do it without removing the wheel...

Actually it may happen if the tyre has been left to go flat.... for what ever reason (must have had a leak), and then re-inflated....

Yes, I said MAY.
It is unlikely, but then so is somebody fitting a tyre incorrectly (not beading it properly). It can take many PSI (Pounds per square inch - pressure) though....
However I can see a wheel weight on your rim, so it must have been done semi properly... OR, they never removed the old weight....

What bike shop?? Just brand they deal with if you don't want to name names...

Oh, and bummer on your Fail...

I wont name the shop but they deal with harleys triumphs etc etc. Basically i dont understand how it wasnt picked up last time i had my warrent because ive only done maybe 2000ks MAX since that warrent. GAH. life....

Makes me a bit worried if i was riding around on a wonky bike as well...

And lets all pause for a few seconds and try to understand why such an inspector would fail a bike for such an item and then expect you to RIDE it off to remedy it , fuck there are some dumb assed shitheads in my industry.

Doesnt really matter who tested it, im justt really interested in the question, should i kick up a fuss because they passed the bike 6 months ago???

ummmmmmmmmm? I am a little confused being as the remedy is to let the tyre down and pump it up again seating it properly (ie.. no actual cost involved).. why wasnt the problem fixed and warrent given?

Maybe the FXR150 was too comlicated for a hardly machanic

My thoughts exactly.. if ANZA have even a modestly equipped workshop, they could have said "heres ya warrant, we had to pump the tyre up, keep an eye on yer tyre pressures"

Instead they sent an inexperienced rider back out on the road with a tyre that could unexpectedly deflate.

It does when your story is confusing people.

Did the workshop who fitted the tire originally do your warrant testing or was it just a testing station?

If it was a mechanical workshop that failed you without sorting your tire before you rode off it is very poor form on their part.

There is a fair bit of assuming going on here.
The main assumption being that the tyre has indeed been off its bead the entire 6 months.
Gosh darn it Ive seen fully inflated tyres with Grass jammed between the rim and the tyre wall as the result of a relatively minor crash. And I've seen propperly beaded tyres go flat and when pumped up sit wrong on the bead.
I've also done a recompliance on a bike with a really deep V in the front tyre. I missed it. The engineer missed it and the compliance guy missed it.
Every time I guess the wheel was positioned wrong.
Yes they may have missed it last time but then again maybee not.
That said I find it hard to believe that a WOF place let you ride away if it was that bad.
