    Woodyracer's TRRS

    Just got back from the track, Had a great weekend, The bike went amazingly.

    Sunday 27th: The bike had brand new bt39's on it so i spent the whole day {20 minutes track time} scrubbing them in and getting used to the bike {its my first time riding ss150}

    Monday 28th,qualifying: My time to push the bike more and not hold back. Me and daniel mettam hanged around each other for a few laps i stuck behind him for a while until i outbraked him into DUNLOP and from there we toy'ed around. I qualifed 5th which i thought was great for my first time on a ss150.

    Race one. It was very wet {but starting to dry up], on the warm up lap my bike was slidding everywhere, and when we got to the grid {we were racing with the classics} i stupidly tryed to take off with them, but we were starting half a lap after them. So i pushed my bike back into position. Then the green flag dropped for us and i soon realised i was in 3RD gear!!!!!!! so i lost about 8 positions, by the end of the straight i was up into about 10th when Andy liver was lying on the ground motionless. The race was red flagged. Then we went back onto the dummy grid and waited 15 minutes. This time of the grid i jumped well into 7th place and i was gaining on the 2 people in front of me until i was leaning around a corner, front wheel touched a wet line and i was gone!!!......my bike slid for 2 metres or so.

    I spent the next 20 minutes modifiying my stock foot peg set-up which broke when i crashed. Apart from that the rest of the damage was cosmetic.
    So i had a foot peg {even then it was dodgy}and i passed scrutineering.

    Race 2: I was nervious if my peg would stay on {i dont want to have my peg brake on me at 150km/h.......}, as i got a DNF in the last race i started at the back of the grid, when the flag dropped i did everything right and i got into 7th place very quick, by turn 5 i had got into 5TH i stayed there the whole time without any threats.

    Alround im happy, i know the limits of the bike now {ive got to stop hanging off it like a monkey....}

    Thanks to everyone who lent me tools and stuff so i could fix my bike and go out and do race 2. Also great racing from DUKEGIRL,STR8 JACKET.

    Good stuff mate! I was gutted that they red flagged the first race as I love riding in the wet and was sitting 4th in from of Sam Vanooooooooo.... But you're right the track was very slippery. I was bummed when the track was totally dried out by the time they restarted the race! Im also glad that I saw you crash well before I ran you over in the first race!

    Excellent effort out there mate. Look forward to racing you again!

    Keep hanging of it mate, overall you aren't at all close to the limit of the bike yet.

    Great first time out on the bike, keep racing it long enough and you will get heaps faster.

    Don't get caught up in worrying about gearing, jetting and what other people are on, (not that you are, but lots of people fall into that trap) just keep it maintained and maximise the time you have on the bike.

    'Friendly' crashes like that are all good too, a great way to learn!

    yer, im not concerned about modifiying the bike, i just want to make it "crash proof" like my cbr,

    im hooked on ss150!! my bike feels fast enough and handles well, so all i have to do is ride the thing!

    Good write up Max and it was great being out there with you and all of the rest of the Streetstock Riders.
    Never saw your off in Race 1 but I wondered what happened when I went past you and saw you sitting on your bike on the side of the track.
    Glad you got your bike fixed to be able to do Race 2.
    See you at Manfeild on the 31st for round 2 of the Bikerider PMCC Summer Series.
