HELP! Any automatic transmission people around?

I'm in a bit of a bind. I have an auto trans playing up.

In park, the engine wont rev, like it's in gear and the hand brake is on tight.

In neutral, it wants to go, like its in drive, but it wont shift out of first gear.

In drive, it drives perfectly normal, except it seems like its not going into converter lock. Normally I can hear it lock at about 80km/hr but its just revving out a bit.

In reverse, the vehicle jams solid and won't go either direction, and the engine wont rev.

I took the valve body off and checked it over and all the valves are free and theres no crap in it. Reassembled it, and its absolutely identical.

Any suggestions? The box is out of an '85 skyline LD28 diesel.

    many thanks in advance.

Must be an old person thing - my 83 year old father had the something similar only it included slipping between gears in his '85 Skyline GT-D, ended up getting an exchange re-coe'd trans so sorry, I can't tell you what the problem is, good luck.

Sounds like to me it's a servo sticking or doing what it isn't meant to.

Edit: WHAT were they thinking when they thought of a DIESEL Skyline GT???????????

Yeah. It doesnt stick when the engine is stopped. If I put the vehicle in neutral and start it, it grabs and pulls as if I've just put it in gear - so it seems its dependant on oil pressure.

Sounds like a sprag clutch or something.Whatever,it's internal and needs to be removed and stripped.Get a second hand one - no auto shop worth their name will go in and fix one item,it's a full rebuild or nothing.

Fixed it myself. One of the clutches was welded.
