    Hello! (Jay GTI)

    Hey,

Thought I'd introduce myself, as I'm sure I'll become a regular on here...

Currently living in the UK but about to return to NZ. Been over here a year and want to get back home. I like getting dirty, used to have an '05 RM250 when I was last in NZ, which I used as a general bush basher, regularly hitting Epic Events (used to go to school with Nick Reader), Kimmy's and Woodhill.

Currently working out what to get on my return, seems these new-fangled EFI 450s are pretty good, but I like smoking and as most will know, it's a hard habit to break. Thinking YZ250 or at a push 250SX... although I may just be making life difficult for myself again (RM put me in hospital a couple of times).

    Anyways, enough waffle...

    Jason.

Welcome back (almost) and good luck with getting back on 2 wheels.

There are not too many UK motorcyclists riding at the moment

Cheers guys and no, there isn't a lot of road riding going on at the moment (although did see someone on an MX bike tearing through the snow a few days ago). In fact I'm trying to get my UK bike license here at the moment, but they keep cancelling my practical tests.

    Can't wait to get back!

Nope... despite having being riding since I was a kid, I don't have a bike license. Plans are to get one here (you can go no license to full license in 5 days if you're over 21, which I certainly am...) to convert the other way when I get back.

I don't want to spoil the party:

BUT (unless the regs have changed) you can only convert a FULL licence that you have held for two years or more

    Check it out: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/

I do know oif someone who had a UK Car licence for 20 years and a motorcycle licence for only 9 months and they didn't notice.

Worth checking out if there is any point takin g the UK test before you arrive.

    Good luck.

Ah bollocks... seems the advice I was given was incorrect (thanks for the link!). Oh well, I can try the quick shifty with the car and bike licence, although I already have a NZ car license. Hmmm.

Cheers for the continuing welcomes guys, yeah seems like a good bunch of nutters on here, I should fit in nicely, he he....
