The Pukeora Hill Road was the state highway......... untill P38 turned up in 1984 and helped push a new road around the bottom and through the cutting that is ....
Apparently it was going to save this country millions $$$$ a year in fuel just by cutting out the climb over Pukeora.
I dont think I've been over the hill road since then.
