    Creating an IPhone App?

    Hey Guys.

I see there are a few techies on kb, I'm wondering if there is some advice or info, on designing Iphone apps?

Is there anyone about, that has created an app for Iphone?
Is there any basic, USEFUL info floating about, and/or, basic design software (Free?)

I have googled, but there's so much info - I'd rather pick someone's brains who has been there done that, and can offer some informed recommendations.

    Thanks in advance

What type of app? It's dead easy to script up a simple app in php and point your browser at it.

Check out Apples iPhone app developer site

    http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/

Its the only way to do it unless you write apps for jailbroken iPhones
All of this, all of this can be yours, Just give me what I want and no one gets hurt

If I told you I'd have to kill you DB
I do have a basic program (it's not mine but it's not copywritten, and it's for shared usage) but I'm wondering how to get something similar sitting in phones, as basic as possible. One click and you're there. And free for the end user. (my browser costs too much so I personally don't use mine)

As always - doing a 1/2 assed job and not doing it right. Thank god you dont work in IT.

T.G.W. Go to Apple and get the SDK (Software development kit) and you are away running. It gives you a emulator and all the coding requirements / Standards. However - last time we played with it the SDK was only availble for the mac.

Tank: were you able to reverse engineer existing apps with the software?

My brother works for Sidhe Interactive in Wellington. They have just launched a new publishing and development group called PikPok. They create iPhone apps. Check out Fame and Flick Kick Rugby.

Try and get in contact with them through their websites Sidhe.co.nz and PikPokGames.com

I'm sure they would be more than happy to help you out.

I have a few iphone developers in the team here. If you get stuck I may be able to bribe them with some beers to help you out. Sadly Im more of the big picture guy and dont code anymore - so my ability to cut any code lines for you will be limited.

We never bothered trying - we used the apple look and feel (as is mandated by apple) then used a similar interface in the main windows to replicate the usability of one of our workflow clients. Personally It seems reasonably easy to code for - I would start afresh and that way you know that your code is optimized and probally going to be more reliable also.

Thanks for that. IT is not my field, but I have found some Apps that come close to being ideal for me,
So my thought process was to 'improve' upon an existing App and tailor it more to my specific requirements, without having to spend hours learning a new skill-set, and writing one from scratch.

Of course I haven't even tried to write one yet, so who knows it may very well prove easier than I think.
