    Polishing chrome.

In the past I've used Auto soul on bright work but that was 20 years ago. Quite happy to stick with auto soul but whats out there now that works well?

Autosol cleans it up - only if it needs it, but just polish like Mothers Stage 2 is going to remove less of the chrome over time and make the finish last longer while providing a protective coating.
Ration the use of Autosol, great product but will slowly remove the plating.

Been thinking about truck products. Off the top of my head, I can think of Intertruck on Blenheim Rd, or Vernon&Vasey just off the roundabout.

Do not use autosol. It has a mild abrasive and over time will wear the chrome thin, right down to the nickel plating.

I use Turtle Wax metal and chrome polish. Is great on chrome, average on metal.

For general metal like Aluminum i use autosol

Like other's have said, avoid "Metal" polish as they tend to be abrasive. Just about any quality auto-paint polish will work well on chrome, but I'm talking polish, not cutting compound or silicone wax.

Synthetic "Turtle Wax Ice" works well on chrome, is very easy to apply, fairly easy to remove and doesn't leave a white residue. It's also great on most plastic/metal parts, but unfortunately rubbish on paint work.

Perhaps I should have defined what I'm cleaning. The headers are beyond polishing, at the other end of the scale, there is light rust. While taking these pix I noticed something has had an effect on the rust on the expansion chamber, my guess is its over sprey from the Autohaus engine cleaner I used. At this point I think I need a mild cutting agent but opinions are welcome

    I see.

Use Autosol, Metal polish etc. It should make a decent improvement and it sure needs it.

Thanks for this link. Theres any amount of advice for polishing etc but the product reviews were interesting Who would have thought pledge would rate so highly as an auto cleaner?

Which brings me back full circle really. 20 years ago, autosoul was the thing to use. nice to hear there are plenty of other options out there now that will preserve the chrome a little better.
